Excellent game on release, a lot of depth hidden in a game where a run usually takes 1-2 hours similar to Binding of Isaac. That does mean having to learn tons of mechanics and interactions to do well.

There are small things that could be improved which I fully expect will happen considering the developer's history.

Early Access Review
Sims meets Business Tycoon. Good time wasting game, lots of depth for a just released game. A number of small things could be improved upon which hopefully will happen with updates but the game overall works well so far. One main thing for me, I would like to be able to move my person with WASD instead of the mouse.

Cosmetic DLCs can be skipped, not worth full price for sure. But the main bundle (Hitman 1-3 and their gameplay expansions) is great value, especially when purchased on sale. Double thumbs up on the games themselves, triple thumbs down to the always online bull. (Which does not affect me very much at all but I can see completely screwing others)

First off because it is really important, do not bother to buy the games (Hitman 1-3) unless you have stable internet that is always on for you. The always online DRM is such a scummy business practice and really can cause frustrating moments especially when your internet is not super stable. Losing connection at any moment pauses the game and forces you to wait until it reconnects. If it hiccups during this time, you have to leave your mission and reconnect from the main menu. Doing this causes you to lose any progress in campaign after your last save and in freelancer mode forces you to restart from the beginning of your mission. (You don't lose anything, which honestly means you can exploit freelancer mode if you are unfun =P )

That said, the game does really have a great campaign story, new freelancer mode is awesome and gives a ton more replayability. Gameplay can cause a wide variety of emotions, from comedic sequences to down right heart pumping moments. AI is pretty easy to manipulate though which has its pros and cons for the gameplay itself.

If you like doomesque and roguelite games, it is very decent. A good amount of content for the price which at times does feel grindy but the game play overall is fun and not frustrating. A great game if you want something that can be played for a half hour, set down, and very easily be picked back up at a later time. There are a number of minor things that could be improved upon and polished but most of those are nitpicks and personal preference things which always could change with future patches.

I really enjoyed the story, was not cliche for the most part or at least not similar to stories I know. Side missions had their moments too and I still have lots to do myself in regards to those. Decent combat and customization, beat my way through a world full of futuristic weaponry with a baseball bat somehow, comical to me. Huge world filled with a decent amount of detail and lots of humor. Not great writing for a number of the dialogue portions, at times even cringy. But this was mostly for side missions, did not mind the dialogue of the main story. And with the amount of conversations in the game, excellent dialogue all the time be asking for the impossible.

As far as release state goes for the game, had a few bugs here and there, had nothing I would consider game breaking, couple minor bugs were hilarious to experience. The occasional bug that was irritating though was an invisible life bar when reloading after dying. Couple crashes but I am running a low end card for what the game demands, worst I had just made me redo a 5-10 minute portion of a hard mission after completing it. Never even updated my graphics card like people said to do in other reviews.

8.5/10 for release, not revolutionary to me, but a ton of fun, only will get better.
