WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING

If you’re experiencing blinding light emitted by enemies, change your anti-aliasing and/or shadow settings. There are a few crashes during my playthrough, but it’s not too bad. Plays well with PSVR2, Wield VR gunstock, RTX 4070, and Intel i5 7600K.

I appreciate the level of effort that Vertigo Games put into making Metro Awakening immersive. Wished the game had official PSVR2 controller support. Would’ve been nice to have head haptics and adaptive triggers working.

GAME REVIEW 👍
──────────
This game has a couple problems, but it is definitely a system seller. First off the negatives, some levels are repetitive and are reused. I’m fine with those except for the pipe maze with the spiders. Having to face that level twice almost made me want to quit because of how lost I became.

The inventory and gun mechanics are awesome as expected from a Metro game. I wished there was official adaptive trigger support or mod. The story is all right, weaker than the main series, but it has solid story beats. Stealth sections can be fun, but it’s not like a Dishonored or Deus Ex game. I do wish that we are at least given a knife for encounters where punching doesn’t work and we ran out of ammo. The game is reminiscent of the first Metro game; it’s very claustrophobic and you spend the whole time underground.

I hope that Vertigo Games makes a spiritual sequel. But this time, we should be able to go outside from time to time and be able to upgrade our weapons. And I would love to see more open-ended sandboxy levels for firefights and stealth runs.

Overall, this is a great game to get into VR alongside Half Life: Alyx Immersive mechanics, graphics, and audio.

The Publisher, Warner Bros. Games, forced this game's launch when the developers were listening to community feedback and tried to get some of them done.

The game feels much slower than before. This game will work its playerbase to the bone when it comes to character unlocks. Events should've been extended for far longer. I only missed two days and couldn't unlock vital skins for essential Rift nodes ro help level up my gems. The Rifts, especially the first two, are way too grindy. This system to unlock Agent Smith is imbalanced and feels scummy. Furthermore, you habe to spend real money to obtain lives for Rift's insanity difficulty.

I hope WB Games let the developers focus on what the community needs. They already have the foundation to make money, but the microtransactions around the Rifts and Events need to be dialed back.

The game's still fun, but it's an inferior version of itself right now.

Requires PSN? Sure, not a problem for me; feels bad for people in other countries. Must be for crossplay.

Requires PSN for Ghost of Tsushima? Ok, sure. The game does have an online multiplayer mode and must support crossplay. Still sucks for people in unsupported countries.

Requires PSN account for God pf War Ragnorak. Sony, WHY?

Are they really going to rollback the PSN requirement for Helldivers II?

Install Gentool from CnC Online to play with others!

I'm a long time casual C&C player. Game's great, especially the campaigns.

I thoroughly enjoyed the hours I managed to put into this game, especially with the Dualsense support and gameplay expansion from Fallen Order.

However, the crashes (especially from Halotactics) and stuttering have become too unbearable to proceed deeper into the game.

Respawn and EA, please prioritize optimizing the game first. It pains me to downvote this potentially great game.

Steam Deckers! Install this game, do not force compatibility, restart your Steam Deck, and put this in launch options "-sdlaudiodriver pipewire". Now your CS2 should run on your Steam Deck without audio issues.

Publisher/Developer Review: 👍
You folks took a while, but thanks for the update. Please continue to push gyro aiming in FPS games, starting with CS2. Native gyro aiming, flick stick, and vibration would be awesome.

Now please revive Team Fortress 2 and give us Half Life 3.

Game Review: 👍
I wasted far too many hours into this game like a fool, but I cannot deny it. It's a well polished competitive shooter. Now it's even better as Counter Strike 2 with the quality of life changes and further improved level design.

All I want to see now is Valve helping close the gap between KB+M and controller players. It would be a godsend if controller players have mouse-like precision with gyro and flick stick while still retaining rumble for immersion.

If anyone can make this a standard, it could be Valve.

$15 USD for an hour's worth of three stripped back PvE story missions? Piss off, guys spend your hard-earned money on BattleBit Remastered instead

Developer Review: 🤷‍♂️
+ BattleNet and Steam integration was very smooth. More games that use launchers should do this. This felt seamless and doesn't force us to use another launcher.

- Some extra and subtle animations, and VFX were removed from Overwatch 1.

Publisher Review: 👎
I didn't want to make my reviews political, but I'm fed up. Go eat some manure and die Activision.

Greedily manage Blizzard's IPs and forcing microtransactions down our throats, especially due to how successful those tactics have been in Call of Duty games.

How they handled Hong Kong.

They borked World of Warcraft, they borked Warcraft 3: Reforged, and they borked Overwatch 2's story PvE.

Because of how OW2 and other Blizzard game have been handled, I'm downvoting.

Steam Deck Review: 🤷‍♂️ / 👍
- Controller sometimes doesn't get recognized when loading into match; you're forced to quit the game and suffer the penalty.
+ Game runs smoothly so far as long as it's installed in the SSD instead of microSD.

Dualsense Review: 🤷‍♂️
+ Adaptive triggers implementation is lame, but at least they're there and better than Witcher 3's adaptive triggers
- For a competitive game, this is a missed opportunity to implement gyro aiming and flick stick.
- No haptic feedback to complement adaptive triggers.

Game Review: 👍
You gotta drop $15 for the story missions. And grind for several months of weekly challenges like 19 weeks to get the overwatch coins, not credits, to unlock latest hero. The story missions should've been free.

It's Overwatch 1.2. If you like Paladins or Team Fortress 2, give this a try. The game is still fun and polished. You'll find some overlap with Paladins. While Overwatch has better animations, polish, and presentation, Paladins has more content, just as fun, and rough. Paladins is the better game, but both Overwatch 2 and Paladins are good. So give both a try.

I like the new Push mode, but is pretty imbalanced and the community prefer the other modes. This mode penalizes the losing team too much, and the robot should move back to the center on its own if no team is escorting it.

Heroes are still varied, interesting, and fun to play. Again, this game competes with Paladins and they both rip each other off. They game is still chaotic as ever and is a good time when you learn how to play your Hero effectively and coordinate with your team members.

CAN'T PLAY ON STEAM DECK? HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO!

1. Download ProtonTricks from Discover Store, you may be required to run a command on Konsole if you install Gwent in your microSD when you launch ProtonTricks.

2. Run Gwent in Gaming Mode and have it install any updates, so ProtonTricks can detect it when you launch the app.

3. After launching ProtonTricks, Gwent should show up as an option. Select it and proceed. Your next option should be the default choice: Select the default wineprefix, so press Next again.

4. Now we're going to add the missing DLL or component that Gwent needs to open the browser and communicate to its GOG servers to log you in. Select Install a Windows DLL or component and click OK.

5. You will be a given a list of DLLs and components you can add to Gwent's compatdata folder. Look for mfc140 | Visual C++ 2015 mfc140 library; part of vcrun2015, tick its checkbox and press OK. The DLL is now applied.

6. Stay in Desktop Mode, this part does not work in Gaming Mode. Finally, launch Gwent. You'll know it works when you see the CD Projekt Red logo and then the game opens the browser. Put in your GOG credentials and Sign In. If you're successfully logged in, you should see the loading page. It may take Gwent a while to load because it's gathering your data from the server and preparing to present you with missing rewards and unlocks and whatever.

7. Now, you should be done! Go back to Gaming Mode and Gwent will automatically sign into your GOG account. Finally, you can play Gwent on the Steam Deck!

This additional setup for Steam Deck has been working as of December 13th, 2022.

PUBLISHER / DEVELOPER REVIEW 👍
─────────────
I have qualms about the changes in Gwent compared to classic Gwent in Witcher 3. Nevertheless, the developers have done great and are still updating this game.

It is massively unfortunate to me that the developers still hasn't put any resources into making Gwent playable in Steam Deck by default. Get on it devs! Lots of us want to conveniently play Gwent on the Steam Deck, make it compatible and get it verified!

STEAM DECK PLAYABILITY 🤷‍♂️
─────────────
Requires ProtonTricks to add missing DLL to sign Gwent player in. But the game runs very well after this additional setup.

ACCESSIBILITY, CONVENIENCE & OTHER REVIEW 👎
─────────────
My main gripe with Gwent in terms of user experience would be the controller user experience. The navigation is occasionally confusing on controller. Even much worse when you're trying to build on your deck with the controller. And I still can't figure out how to cancel your Leader's ability on controller.

GAME REVIEW 👍
─────────────
If you like Marvel Snap, you will definitely like Gwent. While I like the classic Gwent more, Gwent is still a great card game and there is so much to unlock. Highly recommend this game. If you like the writing from the Witcher game trilogy, check out Thronebreaker and Gwent: Rogue Mage. Thronebreaker is a fully fledged singleplayer Gwent campaign with a great story.

I know this review is not an actual review of the game. I'll update it when I can.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
──────────────────────
If you’re new, DO NOT sign in your Google account. If you want your Steam account to link with the Google account you want, press PLAY first. Pass the tutorial and then wait for the prompt that recommends you link your Google account. You can also try linking on under settings which is the gear button.

If you sign in with your Google account first and then log out and press Play, you’ve essentially created TWO accounts (Steam and Google) that cannot be linked together. This is my mistake and now I have to initiate account deletion for my Google account and wait thirty days.

Player support, otherwise known as customer support, is not done well. More on this later.

UPDATE : I've been able to successfully link my Steam account to Google after waiting for the Google account in Marvel Snap after 30 day deletion.

And you can play the game on Steam Deck now, but requires additional set up.

DEVELOPER REVIEW 🤷‍♂️
─────────────
They have announced that playing against friends will come later. But this PC release is just mediocre. The PC client cannot fetch data for “Snap News”. This is where you can see events and claim rewards like a Hulk variant card. You will have to do that in the mobile app. The client just seems like an emulator running the mobile game, at least that’s the impression I am getting.

I also have a huge gripe with their UI/UX for Player Support.

BUT for the gameplay itself, it is very well designed and fun to play.

STEAM DECK PLAYABILITY 🤷‍♂️
As of December 14th, 2022, the game is now playable pn the Steam Deck. Here's what you do:

1. Install Web on Desktop Mode's app store; stay in Desktop Mode, launch Web and leave it open.

2. Launch Marvel Snap on Proton Experimental.

3. Now, when the game launches, do not click Play. Unfortunately, it will not direct you to your Steam Marvel Snap account even if that account is linked to your Google/Apple account.

You either choose to sign in with your Apple or Google account.

4. Now, the Web browser should open a new tab where you will put in your credentials. After that, it should tell you to return to Marvel Snap.

5. It takes a while for Marvel Snap to take you to the main screen after signing in. But after about a minute or so, it'll bring you to the main screen with your account signed in!

This has been working as of December 14th, 2022.

ACCESSIBILITY, CONVENIENCE & OTHER REVIEW 👎
─────────────
Okay, so their Player/Customer Support system is terrible. The developers put Player Support under settings. It’ll take you to like an in-browser in-game window where you can chat with a support member. These members could not resolve my account linkage issue, but that’s another thing. What baffles me is that Player Support is ONLY accessible in the mobile app; you can’t talk to them on their website or forums. It has to be in the mobile app. Personally, I asked them to delete my Google account immediately, so I can link it up to my Marvel Snap Steam account. They would always ask me to sign out first. But what next? If I am signed out, how will I keep communicating with you (Player Support) if you don’t message me in my email or that there’s no kind of forum system on the Marvel Snap website.

EARLY ACCESS GAME REVIEW 👍
─────────────
I casually play digital card and board games; I am not good at them. Nevertheless, this is such a fun game. I know it’s bad to compare, but this game feels like a more simplified Gwent that’s played vertically that retains its depth. You have three lanes and each side counts your points and the opponent’s points. Whoever has two lanes with the most points on their side wins the game; however, if one lane is tied, then the game will count all the points from each side and the person with the most points will win. Each lane can spawn certain conditions that will change the game and it’s up to you to play tactically with your cards, especially because cards have their own conditions and synergies.

You can unlock new cards by upgrading the rarity of your cards. Your upgraded cards will slowly break out of their frames and have this panorama-like visual like Gwent cards. The cheapest cards to upgrade are your gray cards. Each time you upgrade a card, you add a “collection point”. There’s season pass-like level progression when it comes to upgrading cards and getting boosters and other unlocks. For like every two collection points, you unlock something. This is the core way to unlock new cards. There are other two progression systems that are like battle passes: you got Recruit season and Ranking season. You just unlock currency and player icons.

In the Ranking season, you will start playing against actual players around rank 21 to 40. The matches are short and sweet, like 5-7 minutes. There’s another mechanic for the ranking up and this is called Snapping. You and the opponent can wager your cubes and these cubes are what progresses your Ranking season (pretty much your rank). The maximum cubes that can be gained or lost is 8. This can also make the match more intense for both players if a player decides to Snap (this is unlocked at rank 10); when Snap happens, the players are given the opportunity to retreat. The sooner they retreat, the less cubes they lose. I thought that this is quite brilliant as it raises the stakes for players, especially competitive players or players who are trying to unlock the rank 100 reward.

I find the current monetization for early access to be quite fair. As you get into rank 30s or whatever, you should be losing more credits than you are losing with boosters (if you are constantly upgrading); however, if you’re patient, you’ll do just fine when you fulfill each daily challenge and weekly challenge to unlock more XP for your battle pass. After the Recruit season, a sneaky premium battle pass will appear in its place. The Miles Morales Spider Man battle pass’s free tiers as of October 2022 seem fair to me and will help you further progress and build your card collection.

As far as cards and locations go, PLEASE remove or update the Ego location and Agatha Harkness card. I hate them; these will basically plays for each person and each player would no longer have control over the match. It becomes a game of chicken instead of strategy due to how random the AI is going to play for the players. They should be removed; if the developers want to update them, I suggest only have this effect for one turn and must not happen at the last turn.

So overall, this game is addicting, fun, and worth playing. If you are new and are getting started, press PLAY first and then link your Google account. Then download the mobile app and sign in with your Google account and claim your rewards from the Snap News section in the game.

From there, you’re still better off playing the mobile version until they add more updates to their PC client and because you can claim rewards.

DEVELOPER REVIEW 👍
─────────────
The devs shipped out a small update that addressed my initial feedback on the original keyboard controls. I'm excited to see what a future update will bring.

ACCESSIBILITY, CONVENIENCE & OTHER REVIEW 🤷‍♂️
─────────────
  • On the controller, DPAD buttons should also be used to navigate the menu. Likewise for the arrow keys on keyboard.
  • The current bindings for the keyboard doesn’t feel good. I suggest moving the jump button to the spacebar and the dash button to another key such as “J” and/or Left Shift. Ideally, the devs should allow the player to be able to remap the key bindings for gameplay.
  • There should be a copy-and-paste button for the friend code to make it easier for players to send the invite to their lobbies.
  • Needs bots (and drop in system)
  • Exiting the lobby should return the player back to the multiplayer menu options, not the game menu

GAME REVIEW 👍
──────────
This game is a fun party game that is surprisingly difficult at times. It’s a mixture of Little Big Planet platforming with Tetris. It supports online quickplay and has a lobby system where people can input friend codes to join; the game also has local play, so players can play against each other on the couch. The players are Goos and each Goo can swap hats and change skins. The player (Goo) can either jump and dash in an 8-way direction. The game pretty much has two modes: Gooby Gobble and multiplayer stages. All stages will have the player(s) avoiding falling blocks and requires the last surviving Goo to be the victor. To spice up the gameplay, the game also has special blocks that fall down.

There are two explosive blocks that can spawn and explode after their timer expires: one has a circular explosion and the other explodes in both 1 row and 1 column (like traditional Bomberman’s maxed out bombs).

There is a flaming skull that only falls down vertically, destroying everything in its path.

There’s an ice block that can freeze the Goo player if they get hit by it, but it has a rare non-game-breaking animation bug where the Goo player model stops animating and yet it can still move.

Finally, there is a block that creates a chomper with headphones that destroys in its horizontal (or vertical) path; this special block is triggered when a player dashed into its side, which spawns this chomper to destroy blocks in that same direction. Moreover, you can also trigger the block by pushing another block into it.

Gooby Gobble
This is the only single player stage of the game. It is the more arcadey stage where the player must reach their best score. For achievement hunters, you must score at least 1000 on this mode. Compared to the other (multiplayer) stages, you need to feed the big green Goo that floats around. The player must collect the green gooey blocks that spawn and touch the floating big green Goo to feed it, which will raise the score. There’s a timer/progress bar on the bottom right corner. When that progress bar reaches the end, the level will briefly reset the stage and start ramping up the difficulty.

There is a special enemy that spawns exclusively in this mode: flying skulls on fire. The player will die if they touch this enemy. However, I find the flaming, flying skulls to be moving too fast. I suggest slowing down their movement speed, but randomly spawn another flying skull for the difficulty and adding more tension.

I think there should be a skippable pop-up tutorial for this mode.

Other (multiplayer) stages
The rest of the stages are part of multiplayer. These matches can become pretty competitive and requires at least two players to start a match. Unfortunately, this game does not have bots to play against. The server list has a number to the ping bars that indicates the amount of open lobbies. You are most likely going to find a game through Quickplay by looking for players in Squish’s official Discord server (it’s linked on its Steam page) and/or checking the server list.

What’s exclusive to these stages compared to Gooby Gobble is that after a player dies, they spawn their own block which they can move. This block can also be moved down to make it fall faster. If the dead player’s block can touch an enemy Goo player, they can respawn and have another chance to be the last survivor. And these stages can have their floor break up as the match progresses.

Once you get a match going, the game can easily become very fun. You will find skilled players moving blocks to crush you if you are not careful. I find myself doing diagonal jumps to be a lot more effective at dodging blocks. The headphone chomper blocks can also be sometimes tactical when you time when to dash into it or push another block into it. Not only that, some stages can have their exclusive block spawn or special rules. For example, there’s a pirate themed stage that requires Goo players to obtain the highest score by capturing falling treasure chests.

I think the devs should add an additional second jump to the (first) jump to make movement feel better; however, make this second jump a very short jump.

When the player jumps vertically upwards into a falling block, there is a slight nudge upwards, but ultimately the falling block can crush the player. I think it will be interesting if the players are allowed to move the falling block upwards by 1 space when they dash upwards into it.

And when the player can dash upwards into a falling block, there is a slight upward nudge; however, the falling block will ultimately crush the player if they get trapped. I think it will be interesting if the Goo players are able to push falling blocks upwards (by 1 space) to allow them to escape, which will make the matches even more intense.

This game should also have a tutorial mode even if the gameplay is simple. Just walk the player through movement, dash, and jump. And then explain what special blocks spawn and will do.

While I realize that this is a massive task for a small indie team, I hope the developers can add bots to their game. Their multiplayer stages need them and I think there should be a drop-in/drop-out system for the bots too. If the match has already started with bots, let the joining player become the bot on the next round. I think this should be their top priority.

Squish is a fun party game that can get very intense. I recommend getting this game and playing with friends and/or competitive strangers.
