Half Life: Alyx is excellent. It is exactly what you are hoping for - a full fledged continuation of the "Half Life" universe... but in VR. To me, this feels like playing "Half Life 3".

It is extremely polished and makes great use of the VR medium. It is fun (and surprisingly funny) and looks fantastic.

Highly recommended!

If you were already a fan of Warband or the original Mount and Blade you'll love this... it's effectively the same game with significantly improved visuals and some additional quality of life improvements.

It is still very much an "early access" title so some features are missing or placeholder. In saying that however, TaleWorlds have been releasing frequent updates which is very encouraging. The modding scene is also quite good already.

If you have never played Mount and Blade before, it's kind of like Total War crossed with Chivalry... there isn't really anything else like it.... but be warned that the game is first and foremost a Sandbox. The "quests" are more of a mechanic for generating reputation or getting gold. You as the player need to set your own goals and objectives and decide what is "fun".

A great game, but not for everybody.

It has a slower "immersive" pace and can be quite punishing - particularly the restrictions around when you can save. If you are the kind of person that is happy to accept failing a mission or having a sub-optimal outcome (without save-scumming to reset the state) it is fantastic.

There is "jank" to be found here and there, but is easily overlooked considering how ambitious the developers were on implementing a world that feels alive.

I definitely recommend you check it out and support developers such as Warhorse that are willing to break the mold a little.

An excellent example of what can be achieved in VR.

+ An Extremely Immersive full fledged game that doesn't rely on VR as a gimmick
+ Works great at room scale, or with standing room only
+ Looks good and runs well
+ Well supported by the developer
+ Has a singleplayer component for learning the basics or introducing to friends/demoing before dropping into the Multiplayer

Highly recommend!

This game is absolutely fantastic.

Super polished, lots of fun... and free! I totally recommend anyone with a compatible VR headset jump in, you'll have a great time :)

Fantastic game! Highly recommend... best played through singleplayer with the lights off and the sound cranked up for maximum creepiness. Be sure to grab the texture and model mods to bring the graphics up to a more modern-palateable standard :P

Also worth playing co-op with a mate.
