Recommending this game on the assumption that the reader would play this game to enjoy the puzzles and relax, and not to go hardcore and burn themselves out on Void mode (hard mode) and the miscellaneous achievements, like I did.

I don't know if I've played a 2D puzzle platformer as well-designed (both beautiful and difficult) as this one, not counting Braid and Fez - those are in a league of their own. Narration wasn't bad, story mode was basically a tutorial for void mode where you really mesh your colours' uses together, looking through the game's design notes was actually more interesting than it had initially sounded to me.

Rewarding Void mode completion with the secret language did feel like too little too late, since I won't be planning to play this game again any time soon, so I won't even get much use out of it. May still be worth it for the more laid-back player.

Pretty chill overall, but I would personally disable voice narration and in-game music and play whatever music I'm listening to, Nihilumbra works well as a podcasting game.

Who would've thought a game about a frolicking pony would be this fun?!

P.S.: Make sure to uninstall when you're done.

Am a casual fan of indie puzzle platformers (Hue and Red Trigger come to mind).

This game is pretty relaxing, all you do is place blocks to bend the path of light beams so that certain receptors get their correct colours, and you hop around lighting floor tiles finding a path that doesn't involve crossing over any twice. There are also the bits with colour-sensitive phasing where blue and orange platforms/surfaces alternately phase in and out, which you manipulate to move yourself and other objects. Sound is unimportant, so I'd mark this as a podcasting game. It is shorter than games like Hue or Portal (which can be as short as 3 hours after the first playthrough), so it's not as replayable, but still worth a run every now and then.

It is a little buggy, but opening as admin, lowering settings, then regular-relaunching through Steam usually fixes any problems for me.

  • vehicles aren't durable, and hitting space to brake makes you parachute out instead while your ride keeps going until it hits something and explodes - looks cool, Michael Bay-ish, but not great when you weren't planning on wrecking it
  • bullets run out way too quickly, and scavenging for more is boring
  • searching for the next objective is boring, there's little fast travel and traversing the island by parachuting with grappling hook gets old fast
3 things that would be fine on their own but are draining together. Recommending because I assume whoever is reading this has a higher tolerance than I do.

I recommend this game, just not the Steam release. You'd be better off getting it on Origin or pirating the fixed crack (or maybe even waiting for it to get to GOG), I hear both of those options work fine without glitches/bugs and don't raise flags on Windows Defender.

I got Crysis 1 and Warhead on GOG, and they ran perfectly. Frames sometimes dropped to 50, to 20 at really intense scenes because I'm overdue for a CPU upgrade, but they were still very playable with responsive controls (and a HUD that didn't randomly disappear). The graphical fidelity is exactly what you should have expected/heard.

With this series, the game difficulty you play on doesn't seem to affect more than the HUD, so easiest is effectively not much different to hardest, which is a good thing - there is no reason to not choose Delta difficulty on your first playthrough. The self-recharging suit and abundance of enemies with usable weapons (or really any segment where you're not fighting aliens solo) means you don't have to micromanage your health, armor and ammo the way you would in regular First-Person Shooters.

(No story spoilers in this review, just know you won't regret a thing if you buy any of the games from this series.)

For any veterans of the first game(s) wondering about this one, gameplay mechanics are different. Canonically, the suit has been upgraded. Suit modes aren't the same 4 as they were, so while middle-button switching is still available, each mode also has a hotkey. You can collect nanoclusters from alien corpses by walking through them, to unlock new perks/abilities for your suit, and modifying your weapon is a little trickier now since some options are locked. If I had to guess, I'd say the intent was to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different perks, but without the annoying microtransactions or insane grinding.

I forgot how to end reviews. 10/10 game, 0/10 Steam distro.

Stealth games (pure stealth, that is) are a work of art. Knowing you can't just kamikaze your way through a map with even a hope in hell of achieving anything with it (something Assassin's Creed fails in a way that sets it apart), that's a sobering feeling. It's especially a good break (personally, at least) from the very games where you do play as bloodthirsty demonspawn in a human meatsack (although Crysis is another favourite of mine, precisely because no matter how overpowered the nanosuit feels, finding yourself naked in the middle of a group (or if you're a little luckier, 2) of enemies usually means you're screwed).

This game is straightforward: Garrett breaks into a location in search of a specific priceless item, buying a scant amount of supplies beforehand, and maybe even recouping the costs by pocketing any trinkets he finds along the way, to sell later. There is a story to it, but no spoilers here.

I have problems on maps featuring zombies, since they scare me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the ambience. Be warned, being hit by anything other than holy water will see them pick themselves back off the ground and continue lurching toward you.

For anybody curious about classic pure stealth games and/or looking for a pure stealth game to start with, give this one a try. But before you play, install TFix[www.ttlg.com] to get the engine fixed. This mod is basically mandatory. Another mod that helps, but isn't mandatory, is the HD Texture mod. Makes things look a little better for the contemporary standards of a fantasy game's graphics.

When I read reviews prior to playing this, a good amount of them said that this game got right what Brotherhood got wrong. It actually just gets them more wrong. I play games to have fun, not to be told how much of a failure I am.

You play as a senile old fart who miraculously pulls off a lot of things that even Desmond/the Animus has difficulty recreating, not great for gameplay when the directional controls are just as dodgy as the last game.

I did get this game for its story and how that ties back into the central plot, but I can't say there's much else that makes this game worthwhile.

Overrated. Terrible controls.

Update: seriously, why bother getting this game other than for the soundtrack? It's just a mix of bullet-hell and QTEs, Hotline Miami was never this much of a pain.

There are GTA titles older than this game, that still aged better. Don't waste your time or money on this, unless you have a masochistic need to play something crappy and vintage.

AC2's initial release didn't include sequences 11 and 12, and it seems like the only reason sequence 13 was kept in was to segue from Ezio's investigation of the motives behind his family's deaths into this game, where Ezio finally brings the fight to the Borgia within Rome. The map difference is nice, being able to go from packed buildings in the commercial district to open grass plains and/or ruins, without ever needing to leave the city walls. Chain kills, a new indestructible armour, a DLC that's all about making up for missed screen time with Da Vinci, achievements that mean nothing, a memory sync meter for unlocking certain secret memories (honestly not worth the extra time to 100% a lot of memories). This game should be played immediately after finishing AC2, but still be aware that it plays significantly differently.
