A must play in the Ezio trilogy.

Ubisoft connect keeps suspending my account for no reason. I just want to play damn it!

This is one of those games I genuinely do not appreciate giving a "Not Recommended" review for because it's so good, but I cannot overstate this: the launcher AND its functions NEED TO GO TO THE F***ING GARBAGE BIN.

Every time I boot up the game, the launcher prompts me to log in, even though I'm logged in to Ubisoft Connect. Then, it displays, "A Ubisoft service is unavailable. Please try again," preventing the game from launching as if that was my fault somehow. I bought (a license to) the game, it's listed on my Steam account, and even on the launcher—yet somehow, it still won't let me. I try to boot it offline—as one should be able to do for a SINGLE-PLAYER TITLE—and it tells me, "There's an issue with verifying ownership of the game."

There is nothing more infuriating than wanting to boot up a comfort game to de-stress, and getting stressed over not being able to boot it up because of this kind of bs that no one, except the Guillemots or whoever stuck-up, breastmilk-stealing corporate suit demanded the Ubisoft Connect service and its launcher be mandatory, asked for.

Oh, and did I tell you that if you that most of the DLC content for this game are no longer existent and if you missed your window to download them 6 years ago, well, tough sh*t, buddy. Luckily, there are places on the internet to get them from, but Ubisoft's decision of not including them in the base release here after the UPlay servers went down is just asinine. As if a move like that would cost the company billions in lost revenue. Well, I hope they lose billions now and go belly-up, because aside from this bs they pull on their consumers, they also have not been treating their employees well—and that's a complete understatement of the work culture at Ubisoft. Ugh.

It's sad and irritating, but this is genuinely a good game if not without this glaring issue.

Story-wise, it's not as big in scale as its predecessor, especially considering that it was supposed to be DLC content until Ubisoft saw dollar signs after ACII's release, but it's decent enough to progress Ezio's and Desmond's story from the previous game.

The gameplay is where Brotherhood really shines, with better combat, more tech for traversal, and the recruitment mechanic that has you managing a team of Assassins, with some you can even call at your side to assist you in combat encounters or assassinations.

It also has a bunch of upgrades from the previous games that make it replayable, like the replay memory sequence setting, which wasn't present in its predecessors, which now allows you to replay segments of the game instead of going through the entire story just to get to a specific sequence you like. You still can't replay the modern-day segments, but personally that's not that big of an issue. Banks also mean something now instead of just an upgradable building in Monteriggioni. Oh, and did I mention you can now skip cinematics? Crazy sh*t.

Unfortunately, this is also where Full Sync requirements in missions start, and I'm not sure how to feel about those things. They're good as challenges, but sometimes, they just suck. But hey, at least we still have the Cyborg Raiden skin from MGS4. That's... pretty good.

Now, if only Ubisoft will let me play the game...
