I'll try to keep it short, because I only got around three hours in the game before I requested a refund.

It's pretty and it's more or less clever. There are some oldskool arcade elements that the game fluidly progresses in between. Eg.: The game starts off with a top down spaceship rail-shooter like the ones in the arcades of yesteryear, then neatly and effortlessly switches to on-ground hack 'n slash.
The story is... tedious from my point of view. There's a lot of do-this-go-there-grind-some-mobs-for-a-quest and missions are often interrupted for dialog cutscenes. That might be your cup of tea, I found it to be disruptive. YMMV.

The game mechanics, I'm still on the fence about, since I didn't get a lot of gametime. You're equipped with weapons and a flying pod that follows you around. You can use the weapons and hold shift to have the pod fire on a crosshair. That I did find kinda nice. As you're hacking and slashing targets or mobs in front of you, you can also dish out some machine gun fire while holding space.
However, there's also a second NPC following you around, with the same equipment, who looks more or less like you and in a crucial moment in battle, everything becomes a chaotic of mess where you're just thrashing every possible attack key like that time you played Tekken 2 in the arcade with your annoying friend.
The open world is open when the game decides it's open. There's also bits where you have to follow a certain path that you can only diverge from with little nooks and crannies that have loot boxes.

I'm fine with all of the above. Here's the dealbreakers:
- I had to downscale my video settings, even though my GPU was more than capable of handling the game on a higher quality. The reason for that, is because the game tends to show white screens on cutscreens, forcing me to QTD. The game starts windowed and changing it to fullscreen makes it a bit wibbly wobbly in terms of stability.
Add to that that the first segment of the game (30ish mins to 1h), there are no save points. None. So by the time I could save, I had already restarted the game twice, whilst searching for a solution. What worked, was downgrading my video settings and I hate that.

- The game mechanics on how to handle your inventory, upgrades, pod upgrades, pod equipment, your own equipment is so horribly tedious and confusing, I ended up not bothering with it much. There's even an NPC that actually says "I'll optimize it for you, I wouldn't want you ragequitting over it".
Some people might argue that this shouldn't be a dealbreaker and I should take the time to learn the game. I counter that with no, I don't want to take out time to learn the game. I want to play the game, not sit around the pause menu trying to figure out how to configure my chips and not insta-kill my android because I accidentally removed a chip.

Losing game progress and being confused about the mechanics, made me lose interest, very fast, especially over a hefty AAA price.

On the upside, 2B has a nice butt. Just find a high place to jump off of, and you'll know what I mean.

If you're into JRPG's and like to take your sweet time, this is for you. If you're looking for smooth gameplay and unwind, I'd suggest trying something else.
