The best metroidvania-souls like I've ever played. I've enjoyed Hollow knight, Salt and Sanctuary, Vigil and a whole of other indie types. There is just something about the presentation, options in combat, progression, art- all of it that just hits for me. I will second that it takes a little bit for the game to find it's footing in the beginning, but it is well worth learning curve. I have bought this game for all of my friends genuinely hoping to push for a sequel to be made.

Of course I find more Hollow Knight circle jerk on an obscure souls like metroid-vania lmao. Shout out to the Rick and Morty equivalent fanbase for being absolutely everywhere.

The game is incredibly fun but does suffer from some pretty glaring issues. The general metroid vania loop of explore-> kill things --> level --> acquire skills to advance further and backtrack explore is present. You won't get the play time that you get out of better games like Ender Lillies, Vigil, Bloodstained, or even Rabi Ribi but the combat is really fun. At least when it works.

The parry mechanic is smooth and what made the game for me. it's very satisfying to use on bosses (the ones that it can be used against ) and once you figure out the rhythm of dodging, dashing and attacking to get one down. In the first half of the game this is great, but there is a spike in difficulty which in my opinion would be fine if almost all the bosses after the first half didn't require you to fight them in the air, which is *definitely* where the game is the weakest.

The problem is that it can be sometimes difficult to tell what's happening to your character because it's obscured, combine this with "floaty orbs" being a staple of bosses in the second half and you can die without understanding what actually happened to you. One boss in particular is guilty of this as you need to run between their legs occasionally, and because you can't see through their legs and with added mobs in the fight you can literally not tell what is happening. Another boss can combo large orbs on the screen and produce the same effect. If the developer had played to their strengths and made it so you didn't have to be in the air all the damn time to fight the later bosses it would have been better.

Despite this pretty big issue, I found the combat and gameplay loop a lot of fun. It's difficult enough to keep you on your toes but exploring can be relaxing if you just take it at your own pace.

The graphics are what they are, it's a small developer and 3D rather than normal pixel or 2d animation in metroid. I actually kind of found it a breath of fresh air but you can certainly tell this is was a small team with a budget.

Story is...present. I came for the gameplay and got what I wanted. Nothing to write home about and won't confer a million video essays like the ever present HK.

I paid 12 bucks for the game and got bang for my buck. If you're sitting around on a weekend and looking for a short, flashy metroid vania to blow away some time on give this one a shot. 2 hours is long enough for you to decide if the game is for you or not and right in that refund window. Hoping for a more polished sequel with a bit more content and maybe some tweaks to the aerial system and some more time on the ground in boss fights.

If you're a 40k fan, this is a must have. Not only is the campaign excellent and lengthy, especially on harder difficulties. It is packed with fun tie ins to current 40k lore and events. Cadia, Trazyn, Roboute, Yvraine and a bit more I don't want to spoil. If you liked the first game at all or have any passing interest in naval combat simulators (not that there are a lot of them?) you gotta pick this one up. I have zero interest in multiplayer so I can't comment much on that, but the single player campaigns alone are worth the price of admission!

I will comment here that in the 203 hours of playing, I have crashed to desktop twice and the galaxy map can be a bit buggy and not responsive when trying to view all the systems. I run i7-8700k, 1070 and 16 gigs of ram. I play at 4k with a pretty consistent 50-60 fps with some drops on some of the more detailed maps.

If you're like me and kinda sorta hate the length of standard VN's but still like anime, this game is worth a play. I mean it's free, so you have nothing to lose.

Decent port. 30 FPS cutscenes is really the only complaint. Otherwise the game is a serviceable RPG slightly akin to persona with a madoka twist? Idk, it's fun and the music is charming and soothing.

This game is so good that I'm taking a break for posting reviews only for waifu games and NEEDING to support this title. For fans of the soulsborne and metroidvania series, this game is amazing. My only negative feedback is that I wanted more of the game by the time it was done.

Controls are tight, pacing is well done. Difficulty is challenging yet fair (normal and hard perspective) . The atmosphere of the game so well conveyed through such minimal elements. I genuinely cared about certain events that happened despite having such limited interaction with them. It was a compressed experience of playing Dark Souls for the first time, which I would consider the greatest game ever made.

You're getting this game because you liked the first one. It's literally just more of the same thing.
