So, Persona 4 Golden on steam ? Who could have guessed ? not me that's for sure.
I'm not going to lie, i first learned about the Persona franchise through Joker's release for Smash Ultimate, so yeah i'm a newbie in the shin megami tensei world but i doesn't mean i'm stuck at P5, on the contary, i got interessted in the Persona serie and i played every game from the first to the fourth and i have only one thing to say ... Golden is my favorite.


- Nice story, even if it's not the most original one.
- Do i have to mention the music for a Persona game ?
- Main and secondary characters are really developped with each one having their own Personality / Quirk.
- Cute humor, had me laughing a lot (mostly the part about bad cooking).
- Good combat mechanic, although a tad grindy.
- Chie best girl, fight me
- Naoto best boy, fight me
- Chad Yu
- Did i mention the music ?



- PS2 graphics, what did you expect, the game came out in 2008
- The game can be a bit grindy at times, especialy after a dungeon, where you have to level you characters for the next one
- I had some issues where the game would crash for no reasons and some cutscenes would not load, but it looks like it's fixed
- Dungeons can be annoying to navigate since they are procedurally generated like in rogue likes, wich is particulary tiring when grinding.
- NewGame+ is really easy


- You'll need special items to leave the dungeons, don't forget to stack up



I think when we talk about Persona, two things come to mind, the story about kids saving the world from their mistakes and the sound tracks, i'm going to focus on the sound track first, this itteration of the franchise has a jazzy theme wich is awsome (just listen to the Specialist song) and for me it has one of the best songs in the entire franchise.

The combat mechanic, even if it didn't change much compared to the third installment, has been improved with the ability to change party member to "Direct Command" wich basicaly allows you to control them.

Overall i strongly recomande you play this game.

10/10 would die eating yukiko and chie's food again.

--Intro--

So, let's be real, this game is janky as heck, you'll hit spike that where no way near you and the camera is a living nightmare (mostly in co-op), the game feels a bit rushed and don't even get me started on the last level, add in to this the lack of collectibles (except for ringsel which are more like power ups) and post-game stuff to do and you should get one giant steamy pile of garbage.

Should ? yeah I said should because even with all of its flaws and buggy stuff, this game is one of the best I’ve played in a long time once you put aside all the bad things, the story, even though it's kind of cliché and not really original is still great and you're always hyped to play again after you stopped, the combat mechanic is really unique and it is super fun to juggle enemies in the air like a ball.

--Pros--
- Great Story, mostly voice acted dialogs, good English VA, good music
- A combat style which is kind of unique in the Metroid Vania genre (do not quote me on that)
- Beautiful art
- Great Platforming
- Wide cast of characters
- Humor is almost always on point
- Trigger
- hard but not unfair, there is always a visual queue when the enemy is going to attack, and the perfect parry window is generous (except in the final boss fight)
- Pretty good level design (except in the last level)
- You can pet the dog
- Kampan / Mumen rider (Naga rider) / Dhar
- HECKING <3 RAZMI <3
- Did I mention the music?

--Not-Pros (Since Steam thinks the opposite of pros is a swear word) --
- Controls can take a while to get used to (DO NOT PLAY THIS ON KEYBOARD)
- Janky hit boxes
- Starting fights in co-op can be tricky
- Awful optimization but if you do not ALT+TAB just after loading in the game it should be fine and will not crash
- Game feels rushed especially towards the end
- Controllers? (have a problem where if I unplug the controller, I cannot plug it back in and continue playing and I have to restart the game)
- The last level

-- In Between--
- Incarnations are a bit unbalanced and you will probably end up with almost the same team as everyone else
- No fast travel (god I hate Kaanul)

--Conclusion--
Even if this game was rushed due to the studio dying mid making, you can also feel all the love that was put in it and i strongly recommend you play it if you have a good pc. I always found the platforming hard but not too punishing (except for the las level) and all my deaths on platforming where due to sheer incompetence from me.

Game still owes me a boss fight tho.

8/10 would swim in slime again
