An excellent single player experience. Lots to explore and do. Frequent updates to the game even with it being rather underground. You can tell that the dev cares about the game.

I've played this a lot with it's original release as a homebrew. My super early impressions are beyond positive. Goodboy Galaxy will scratch that retro action platformer itch you may have.

Also FYI! The original homebrew release is provided for personal use in the Install Directory. Works great with just about any GBA Emulator, Analogue Pocket GBA Core, or official hardware with flash cart. Special thanks to the devs for including it :D

There are Pokemon clones, and then there is Cassette Beasts. While at the surface it looks like a clone, there's a heart all it's own. The devs clearly wanted people to relive the feeling of discovery like playing your first mainline Pokemon game, and they nail it.

I do hope there's further performance optimizations though. On a proper gaming rig, the game runs without issue. But Steam Deck is a little fiddly, and the battery drains quite fast.

Do you think the droids in Star Wars are oddly cute? Then this is the game for you :D

Plays great! Excellent on Steam Deck. Lots to do, and lots of options for exploration. I get the vibe that the game is going to be a gold mine for sequence breaking.

Do you like orbs and orb-based puzzles? If so, then this is a game for you!!

Game plays fantastically on Deck out of the box. No frame dips early on so far, but sample size needs increased.

So far, this has been an excellent game to get lost in. Not too difficult of combat, and tons of accessibility options to enable all players. My recommendation is to go in blind, and to read the manual as you find pages. That'll make sense the more you play.

The sound design and score are wonderful and really fitting for the ethereal vibe the game puts off.

I do wish there was controller button rebindings (as there are keyboard rebindings). That is a minor gripe that I'm sure I could get around messing with Steam's controller support. Also, it's a little too easy to accidentally open the inventory menu and change your weapon loadout during tense combat. Since the game doesn't pause in the inventory menu, this can cause some accidental damage or use of items you do not mean to use. All of these options could have been fixed with controller remapping ;)

TL;DR: Pick this one up!

Edit: Now further in, this game gets a bit of a FEZ vibe with it's puzzles. Be ready. That's all I'm saying
