Resident Evil Requiem is arguably one of the best titles in the series right next to the greats like RE4 (2005) and RE7.

RE9 does take liberties in retconning a lot of the lore set by games that have not been remade such as RE5 However these changes add depth to the story and characters rather then just being done because "we needed to" With this being said the little nods added into the game give me hope for the future of the series.

I discovered this game around 2 years ago me and a few friends eagerly waited for the release to come and that time is now.

Having just completed the game I will leave my honest thoughts on it below starting with the cons this game has.

Cons

- GzDoom Jank
I dont know what more has to be said on this the Mohrta is built on a highly modified version of the GzDoom engine which with its many years presents ... obvious jank. Enemies often forget how to path or get a little too good and shoot through walls while this in turn does get annoying I dont think this overall affects how the game is played (even though I did take some damage through walls that i personally could not see through)

-Hitboxes
Many enemies have some questionable hit boxes and some rather ... Generous hurtboxes I found on multiple enemies that while it appeared I was either hitting them or out of their range that either they would not take damage or they would some how still hit me. Again this was probably more GzDoom jank then anything.

- Lack of Reload canceling
The title of this con sums it all up I found myself dying more often to being overcrowded by enemies and the game not allowing me to switch from the shotgun to my revolver or any other weapon until the animation of loading ALL 4 SHELLS was complete this lead to multiple deaths that could have been avoided but was something i learned to watch and handle near the midpoint of the game,

Pros

-Story
The story of Mohrta can be a bit ... confusing at first but thats one of its charms the player is a living mechanical corpse with no memory of its past life before being grafted to its armor and thus the titular character of Mohrta learns of the world itself just as we do from the connected areas of the world down to the players main goal of finding and destroying his own fellow Hayward Unit of Avalan and what his ultimate goal is and what forces linger and stir through the universe.

-Gun play
While I mentioned that reload canceling does not exist in this game its something that can be glossed over for the sheer number of guns and weapons you acquire through your play-through each one feeling unique with a primary and alt fire mode that lets the player decide what to use as there are only 4 primary ammo types (Normal,Special,SMG, and Heavy). At no point did I feel that I missed a shot because the gun didnt do its job but because I simply didnt aim in the right spot. That being said anyone who is a god tier aimer and can predict patterns well will find some part of this game too easy.

Overall I highly recommend Mohrta and if you are on the fence about picking up the game go ahead and try the demo which will allow you to play the tutorial and go through all of stage 1-1 thought 1-3.

Beyond the dawn is truly the ending Tales of Arise should have shipped with having a more cohesive ending with a more series traditional final boss then the main game had and a much more fulfilling final dungeon then the original games 4 floors of nothing but filler.

If you enjoyed Arise but felt the game was lacking in the "tales of" department this dlc may fix that for you

Lunacid is 100% what it describes itself as a dark fantasy game inspired by the classic from soft games kings field etc. This is seen not only in the visuals and atmosphere of the world but also just how cryptic some things can be.

While you will begin confused not knowing right from left every new area and every run through of a return visit will get you more and more familiar with locations as you uncover fun cryptic and most of the time mind boggling secrets.

Lunacid may be short but what I lakes in true length of gameplay (being roughly 20 hours long) it makes up for In world building lore, secrets and a generally rewarding end game trying to aquire every achievement in the game which is by no means a small feat.

At the end of the day if you enjoyed darksouls , elden ring or skiro give it a try.

Not the most complex story but has enough twists and turns to keep ya guessing and pull at the heart strings. A fair match to early day Dark Souls / Demon Souls in terms of level layout (or lack there of) but for the most part will keep you guessing on some hidden out of reach items.

OH also anime booba

Let me preface this with the fact that VRC is a great social game and the community around it is amazing.

... However as of July 25th 2022 the developers of VRC in a move i can only assume is backed by HTC their funding partner decided it would be a good idea to announce EAC and call a large portion of the community "bad actors" by stating that mods where more likely to cause you to get your account stole by a bad actor and in saying so generally naming any one who uses mods for VRC to enhance or fix broken features a fool and calling the modders criminals.

Even the supposed reason for the addition of EAC is fishy claiming it is to lower the chances of bad actors taking your content uploaded to the game even tho in fact the game is flawed in this regard and caches those same files for anyone who sees them on the local machine making it as easy as locating the cache file for VRC and using a unity asset ripper to pull this content out.

Mods are not the problem and EAC is not the solution i will gladly change this review back to a positive one when and if VRC realizes that alienating the community is not a good idea and instead embraces the modding community for adding sorely needed features that otherwise would take months if not years for them to officially add.

Fun game with a major focus on preserving Japanese culture and as such I would recommend anyone into Japanese culture or folk lore to play this game.

One if not the only major downside of Ghostwire is its seemingly short main story.
