Hello all, thanks for playing the Mohrta Demo!

Before we begin, I recommend backing up your Mohrta game files to somewhere else on your PC, GZDoom updates erase save data, so if you want to continue to play your current save- please back up your build within the next few days before I launch the new update.

Other than that, I wanted to take some time here to elaborate on some technical issues we’ve run into.

Some people have been running into issues such as incorrect lighting, strange keybindings, missing HUD, and more. These are all issues with the way GZDoom handles the .ini file. The easiest way to fix this would be uninstalling Mohrta, deleting the .ini file in Documents/MyGames/Gzdoom, and then reinstalling Mohrta. This should get you on the proper settings. If you don’t want to do this, I will go through some settings, and what they should be set to.

Before listing, you can find all of these settings by using the ‘option search’ button, or the “Full Options Menu” button in GZDoom.

Also, do not press reset to defaults in the options menu, this will undo a ton of changes I made to the .ini to make Mohrta look how it does. Sorry!

My game is too bright and/or uglier than the screenshots!

Make sure Gamma and brightness are lower than the default.
Brightness: -0.05
Gamma: 0.94
Bloom Lighting: ON
Ambient Occlusion: Low
Sector Light Mode: Dark
Texture Filtering Mode: None

My HUD is missing, I don’t have a cross-hair!

Try using the + and - keys to resize your hud. If that doesn’t work, there’s a setting in Display options called Screen Size that you can adjust to show the HUD. Setting this to 10 instead of 11 should help.

As for the crosshair, Mohrta’s current build does not include one, but you can enable it in the options settings if you’d like.

My controls are all wrong! My settings aren’t saving!

This is a new issue that we’ve run into and are working on. For the time being, try deleting your documents .ini and restarting mohrta to see if that helps it. This is something we may need help with, so if you’ve found a solution, please comment below.

Why are there key binds that don’t seem to do anything? I can’t crouch?

You’d be right, you can’t crouch. GZDoom is a strange beast- there aren't many keybinds we can use so we had to dip into things like Zoom and Crouch for certain button actions. If you want to rebind your dodge, please use the menu that references the player actions directly. If that doesn’t work, you could try to edit your .ini file directly, either the documents one or the one inside the Mohrta game folder.

Where can I find what inventory items I have? (Ore, Mana Crystals, etc.)

This is currently a work in progress, and will be available in the finished game.

I’m stuck in the level terrain!

All cheats are enabled in this Mohrta Demo, the same ones that can be found in any gzdoom project. You can use Noclip to free yourself or skip past any bugs you might come across. There’s a lot we didn’t run into during our limited testing period, so please bear with us as we fix these things we missed.

The Camera movement is nauseating!

Go to options > full options menu > tilt++

From there, you can adjust camera movement and intensity however you like.
