This game feels like the RPGs I played in my childhood grew up with me. Sandfall has created a rich, colourful world, which rewards you for immersing yourself and taking the time to embrace your surroundings.

The plot is an absolute masterpiece, poignant and full of surprises, while still having its moments for humour. This game made me laugh, cry, and everything inbetween. I have not been this invested in a game's plot in a long, long time, and it being over hurts.

The gameplay is no slouch either. Expedition 33 offers a deep customisation system, letting you experiment with builds and tailor them to your preferred strategy. The QTEs in combat, both for attacking and parrying, are a welcome addition to the turn based formula, even if the timing might seem unforgiving at first. As someone who never played any Souls games, I had to turn the difficulty down to be able to parry & dodge properly, which is in my opinion the only blemish on this game.

Finally, I would be remiss to not mention the soundtrack, which truly ties together the game with a wonderful bow. The composers experimented, and had fun designing the music for this game, and their efforts shine through. I've had a specific boss track stuck in my head for over a week now.

Expedition 33 quickly rose in my personal rankings to not just my GOTY, but one of my favourite games of all time.

I only ever play this game at my worst. Whenever I'm having a really bad day, I boot up this game and let it out. I think it helps. Don't look into it too much.

Amazing game from beginning to end. The Game Kitchen refined what worked from the first game, and removed the few pain points such as instakill spikes. The weapon variety was a great addition, and them doubling as traversal options only made it better, even if I mostly used the hammer for its range.

If I were to offer some criticism, I would say that the game becomes a lot more linear in the second half, and that I preferred the dirty pixel art cutscenes from the first entry, but neither of those things are enough to leave a blemish on this otherwise perfect sequel.

Strong 9/10.

Just finished the game in Veteran after roughly 40 hours. Enjoyed it from end to end, the storytelling is fantastic and the gameplay loop is very enjoyable. I'm most likely going to sink in several more hours to attempt to complete it in Heroic.

Couple of minor gripes, however:
- My biggest one, the game could very well use a QA patch. I got softlocked twice, and some UI errors make completionism difficult.
- Some characters seem much stronger than others, but that might just be me being bad.
- The bosses feel slightly too easy. Several of them didn't even get to use their ultimate before dying.

None of those things are a dealbreaker, at least for me, so this game still gets a big thumbs up!

The base game is very good. However, I heavily recommend waiting for a sale to buy the DLC, if at all, as they are very underwhelming.

This game is lots of gun. That's Gungeon for fun.

I'm pretty sure you could play this game forever and still be entertained. And then you can bring friends in.
