I would recommend against this game. Gave it a solid shot, and the "vision" is just too scattered. Getting one shot by random mobs when you are leveling up just isn't fun at all.

After giving the game another solid shot, I fall firmly into the (what seems to be "typical") view of this game does not respect your time - and this is coming from somebody who has played more Rust than is likely healthy. The player-base is also pretty damn toxic overall.

Originally, I thought the game was awesome - I spent a solid weekend front lining as a medic during my honeymoon period with the game and met some cool people who started to show me the real ropes of the game, and that's when I realized exactly how much investment of time goes into getting the bare basics of advanced tech in the game. And it's not a FUN investment like with Rust where there is the constant risk vs reward of recycling, dealing with neighbors, organic PVP encounters etc - it's just what everybody calls the "logi grind" or "scrooping" and dealing with the janky mechanics along the way.

Joining a group early also exposed me to the more advanced mechanics of the game quickly, and I realized that most big regiments just do not give a ♥♥♥♥ if you are on their team if you AREN'T in their regiment, they are going to completely ruin your base and take your stuff and it's just part of the game.... at least on a game like Rust, you know who your enemies are 99.9% of the time. On Foxhole, it seems like fellow regiment units are a bigger threat to the average player with their behavior than your literal enemy.

Also, it's worth mentioning the "alt" problem, which even after just a couple of weeks of play time I started suspecting any new player (I mean, damn, I'm new too) of being an "alt" which is simply a player from the other team picking up an extra copy of the game in order to get a vision and knowledge advantage over the opposing team. There are plenty of reports of these alts completely trolling, destroying bases, stealing resources and delivering them ever so coincidentally into an ambush that the other team set.

It's a fantastic concept, but there are too many glaring issues in the game for me to keep playing it.

Game was pretty good, but the hackers in season 2 are absolutely out of control. No chance of a legitimate game anymore. Went from 131k to 50k players really quick.

Early Access Review
Clearly the devs are addressing glaring issues with EA and working to make the game more accessible to both old and new fans.

This game is pretty damn fun to be honest (I expected nothing after logging in for the first time blind).

The vast majority of the negative reviews are directly related to "privacy issues" (it's 2024 yall, let's be real, if somebody really wants your information its publicly available SOMEWHERE), lag issues (which have been resolved) and losing all of your items at the end of a wipe (which, again, is a little exaggerated because you get to keep blue prints, base designs, etc).

I would say give it a shot.

In a world filled with cheap service-based games, you can always rely on Grim Dawn to be THE best traditional ARPG on the market.

It's a whole lot of fun, like Blade and Sorcery with a lot more focus on quantity and slightly lower combat quality. Nothing quite beats the feeling of juggling enemies in mid air and chopping off all their limbs before slamming them back to the ground.

Got completely bamboozled by these devs. Will never buy another SLZ game again.
