Great update, thank you. It worked without issues for me.
All went well. Nothing to report (except that damned BPM freeze exiting MAD MAX in Vulkan!).

Wow! Kernel 4.16? That's front-and-center, stand-up-and-take-notice of SteamOS, Aye?!

GTX970, i5-6400. Installed as expected, Talos on Vulkan works, Rocket League on OpenGL has some microstuttering. No stability issues thus far.
Heads down...indeed. Thank you.
Rise of The Tomb Raider Performance ?
OK, I did a fresh install of the latest SteamOS DVD (*) and then upgraded to the latest stable 2.154.

The upgrade process to 2.154 went OK-ish, more exactly I had to do multiple restarts and even when finished, one package refused to install, namely the "steam launcher" package, both 64 and 32 versions. It was available for upgrade in desktop mode, but I choose to leave the old versions in place.

Then added in desktop mode the beta repos and upgraded to 2.164, and this time the upgrade process went without issues (it took a long while though, so you have to be patient) and even the problematic "steam launcher" packages were updated to the latest version.

* I did encountered at this point the Steam login issues discussed in the other thread. SteamOS is stuck here, and you can't upgrade to 2.154 or do anything else until you solve (or workaround) the login issue.
Excellent, been looking forward to this!!

By the way I've been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on a GTX1070/SteamOS and the hard part was getting around the Feral Launcher. I've been playing for around 8hrs without any issues on max settings. Feral support said it renders fine on those drivers but may occasionally crash (haven't had that happen yet). That said, I'm curious to see if I'll get an FPS increase with the new drivers.

Hi, are the RX Vega cards now supported? I've updated to this version however i'm stuck with software rendering. glxinfo | grep vedor shows the vendor as VMWare instead of AMD.
Zotac Nen and IvyBridge laptop updated and rocking.
Thanks.
Thanks a bunch for adding a progress bar and the status of the upgrade during the OS upgrade process. Small things go a long way for me, and those little details rock. Using pv to get the progress percentage? :P
Why SteamOS isn't based on Debian 9.5 or Debian 10, that would be extremly BIG and usefull update, also bringing new security features and more performance/FPS for us. If Valve polishez a little bit, update everything possibble to squeeze out every little drop of performance from our hardware, than we would have that "dream" gaming OS which we all wanted....
@D1stRU3T0R looks like they are currently working on a Steam 3.0 version based on Debian 9.
@grandmastermoth hopefullz Debian 9.5, latest one :)
