Memoria - Engine modifications

Features:
  • Widescreen support

Important:
Update the game to the last version first!

Command line interface:
  • Memoria.Patcher.exe - will patch game files using current directory or path from the windows registry
  • Memoria.Patcher.exe <gameDirectory> - will patch game files using a provided path

First run:
  • Run game.
  • If there is no error you will see "Memoria.ini" file in the game directory.
  • If something went wrong you will see error in the "Memoria.log"
  • If you not see "Memoria.log" try to run game with administrator rights
  • If you see "Sharing violation on path" then close applications that hold this file
  • If you see "at Memoria.CsvReader.Read" then fix files in the StreamingAssets\Data directory or delete them and patch again.
  • If the error persists see "\FINAL FANTASY IX\x64(or x86)\FF9_Data\output_log.txt"

Configuration:
  • Close the game
  • Open Memoria.ini via any text editor (notepad for example)
  • Change "Enable" value from 0 to 1.
  • Specify other params
  • Save Memoria.ini
  • Run the game
Some settings are available in the in-game menu: Ctrl+Alt+Shift + M

Don't forget Square is not the one at fault here completely. Yeah they published it, but Silicon Studios did the port so always through the fire at Silicon not Square, because we all know if Square did the port themselves the will be no need. Look at FFXII, perfect example what could have been possible for FFIX. Unfortunately things didn't happen that way.

But alas, there always a fluke where when money starts getting involved with mods (yes donations), greed and instability....
I've seen it happen the past 7 years of modding. Which s why I left them and now, once EMR is completed, my days with modding have reached it's expiration date. (The end).
I had to start putting this into my own work, my own game.
Speaking of EMR, I do have an update for Albeoris related to Memoria/Hades Workshop here.
You are delusional if you think SE would've actually put in effort to make this port great if they did it themselves. They have proven time and time again they don't give a shit and just want a quick buck. Projects like X/X2/XII are exceptions to this rule. (And FFXII was full of corner cutting in ways that were not on X/X2 and had a host of other things it could've done so much better.)
They always have the final say and they could easily make SS do a better job, and give them a bigger budget. But they didn't.

If you want to see the work of a company that cares, look at Blizzard and SC Remastered. That is how you handle old, low res pre-rendered remastering.

Comparing Starcraft remaster to FFIX is a bit hard. Everything looks better, that's for sure but they didn't had prerendered backgrounds to handle only Spritework/CGI and tilework for the maps.

Besides that I also think that SE doesn't care about PC that much.
Normally the games are outsourced and the company in hand doesn't have the budget to do a proper PC conversion.

Nonetheless, better that way than no PC port whatsoever.

You can set 0 to keep the length by the story, 1 for the long hair and 2 for the short at the any moment of the game.

Would love something like this for armored Zidane, if possible of course.

I'm sorry I will ask again: how do you handle drawn backgrounds in widescreeen? Do you stretch them horizontally in some fancy phoshop-esque content aware method?
Wow awesome work with the ws update, is there any chances to get the menus running smooth like the ps1 ver.?

This happened to me too. The only way to get the game running was to bring back the original FFIX Launcher. To do that, just delete or rename the mod's own FF9_Launcher.exe, and rename FF9_Launcher.bak (the backup copy of the game's original Launcher) into FF9_Launcher.exe.

Thank you for the fyi. For some reason I thought the Memoria Launcher was needed for the Memoria Mod.

I think Al modified the view port. So you've prpper widescreen without Stretching (like in the Resi 0 and 1 remake).
