It's not limited to Zidane though ; all the characters use their trance battle model by default.
So, if you have your mod stored within a .hws file, you can safely do this:
1) Open a non-modded game,
2) Import your .hws file,
3) Import the "AlwaysTranceMod" .hws file,
4) Export as Steam Mod.
If you only have your Steam modded files but no .hws for it (I don't recommend it), you can try to open the modded game with HW and then do the steps 3-4 above, but I can't guarantee that the modded game is opened properly by HW.
I don't remember how I did that mod. I'm sure there's nothing very complicated but it's CIL code modding so you always have to know what to do beforehand. I'll check about it if you fail to import my .hws file.
Thanks for your intructions, but I did exactly what you said and still not working. Now I can enter the game but when a battle occurs the screen remains in black after battle-blurring. My game version is V20160426 I think it is the last update.
What I did is:
1. to reinstall the game from 0, without any modification.
2. to use HW to import your TestTrance.hws file (just your file to test it) and then save it as Steam Mod.
3. to copy the x64 and StreamingAssests folders in Final Fantasy IX replacing all content.
Did I miss something? thanks for all your support and intructions. :)
To update the game, go to your Steam's "My Games", right-click on FF9, then "Properties", then search for something like "Verify the integrity of the local files" and do that. It also uninstalls all the mods (replacing the files in FF9's Steam folder).
@Dwight: If I remember correctly, the character models are half-transparent with the "ghost" version. It was initially a bug that I obtained by mistake when making this mod and I thought it was neat so I've kept a version of it.
