There's no compatibility problem: you can use the Playable Character Pack + Alternate Fantasy (or any other mod) without problem. The only thing is to put Moguri at the bottom of the list (in order for it to have less priority over the other mods).
First of all, you may want to take a look at this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/377840/discussions/0/3497635791229563331/
I already added Lani as a playable character. As you've guessed, it was much more difficult than Beatrix. But with some work, it is possible to add her as a full-fledged character as well. It's not like Beatrix because she cannot be recruited in a cutscene and then be part of the journey with the others; she just appear in the party menu along with the other characters.
About your suggestion with the Festival of the Hunt, it is indeed possible to make similar mini-games (or dungeons) but I'd need to think about it more thoroughly. Still, that could be a good idea, I'll keep it somewhere and see what I can do, thanks.
Thanks again for the great mod. I straight up can't play Vanilla FF9 anymore. lol
Here's hoping the remake rumors are true!
