Go to your preferences page, scroll down to the community content preferences, and tick the box "Do not filter strong profanity or slurs", you can also add words to never filter too.

This is what I did specifically...

And the only things filtered are blacklisted links and hard coded filtered words like, free and skins. Put the 2 words together and they are filtered no matter what.

The filter was defaulted on because users need protection from themselves.

Because Valve is more concerned with what you say than what you post

Said a bad word? Thats a no-no. Posted a million screenshots of hentai tits and slut cosplayers that children can access through steam community hubs? Perfectly acceptable,

Little Billy is hurt far more by you calling him a bad word than by a lifelong addiction to pornography that starts because of a neckbeard posting anime tiddies in the "artwork" section of a game children play

IF the poster turns on the NSFW tag, which they rarely do, and even still if it's blured there's 0 age verification or warning just click and view, very good for little Billy

Also if Rockstar could be hit with a lawsuit over a fan made mod that added explicit sexual content to their game that was rated M, surely Valve can be held accountable for exposing children to smut on their platform with no age verification when the TOS say you only have to be 13 or have parental permission to be on Steam. Pretty sure exposing 13 year olds to smut is a really bad thing, and by not doing anything to stop it on their platform, they're advocating it

The warnings appear when entering the game hub.

You have to turn OFF the setting that prevents the viewing of such content. It is censored by default.

My son has a Steam account and I don't worry as I have Family View set up so he can not change such settings, only I can.

There is a warning about what the content is that you are about to view, as cSg|mc-Hotsauce said.

The only lawsuit I know of in regard to that, was the "Hot Coffee" mission that was left in the game by the developer. They only removed the trigger for it, but left all the content.

That wasn't a fan made mod.
