New triggers stop working
Hi everyone,

I'm actually making a player house and I'm new at modding. I've been following tutorials and I'm learning step by step, but there is something I don't understand and that gets on my nerves. When I create a trigger ( for a weapon rack or a unique display or a potion shelf) it first works when I try in game, but when I go back to Creation Kit just to modify something, like the name that needs to appear in game, then it doesn't work anymore. I can do everything all over again, from scratch, delete the trigger in the "Object Window", save and relaunch Creation Kit, it still doesn't work. For the bug jars displays, in game, when my cursor is on the object place there isn't even the "Use", it's like it were all static, and for the weapon rack, there the "Use rack" but nothing happens. It was working and I just came back to Creation Kit and changed the name so it would be called Wood Axe. For the jar, I used a trophy pediestal under them but they were not static, so I just deleted them and replaced them with a static version that I've made but I didn't touch the trigger nor the jar, came back to the game and then it wasn't working any more. And like I said, I start all over, with new objects, triggers etc, but it doesn't work.

Thank you for answering ! But it would only show how to make some mods and it doesn't say why triggers may stop working. Like, I have to duplicate those already existing otherwise nothing will show up in game.

The guide shows how to create mannequins, weapon racks and plaques, and item displays. I guess that giving the triggers a name, may cause the trigger to become unusable. If you want a trigger to only accept a specific item, use the method described under 'Creating Item Displays'.

Yes I read the guide, and thank you for sharing it, it may help me later for other cool stuff ! The thing is, my question in not about how to make those, I know how to make them because I did make them and they worked, then they just stopped working, I need to duplicate old triggers, new ones do not work. Also, I don't have any working weapon rack trigger, so I can't duplicate any, which means I can't make weapon racks for my house. All the other working triggers have names, because they need to have one so that we know what we are going to loot ingame. I really don't knwo what to do, nor what the problem may be..

Working examples can be found in the WarehousePrefabs interior cell. Use Ctrl-C to copy ALL parts of a weapon rack/plaque or whatever, open your own cell , click on the spot where you want to place those, and press Ctrl-V. Do not use Ctrl-D as it will only work in the same cell. Could that be why your triggers are not working?

About naming triggers: The disadvantage of named triggers is that you will have to create triggers for each particular item. Named triggers can only be reused for the exact same item (type), e.g. " Iron Sword", etc. I don't think you want to create hundreds of different triggers.

I've never used Ctrl-D, always Ctrl-V. I did what you said, I copied and pasted. Ingame I have " Activate Weapon Rack " showing up but when I click nothing happens, weapons won't hang on it... I know all the parameters are good so I really don't know why any new trigger, ( every kind of trigger, not only rack ones ) won't work but old ones do...
I don't know if "SSE CreationKit Fixes" could help with this problem, maybe I should install it anyway

I installed it and nothing has changed. And now when I want to create a new cell to try it on a new cell, when I go in game and type 'COC Nameofthecell' I don't enter the new cells anymore. Or nothing happens, or there are messages like it's not an interior when it actually is, or there are messages like HasLinkdRef >> 1.00 / INullPackageData >>1.00 / HasLikedRef>> 1.00 / GetInFaction >> 1.00 / Gets Actor Value >> 0.00 ect. It doesn't change anything if I duplicate an already existing ( and working ) cell or if I create a new one from scratch.
I'd like to reset everything but I don't know what to do, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both Skyrim and the Creation Kit but all the files have just been replaced in my folder, the installation didn't install new fresh folders or files.
I also tried with other ESM files ( Skyrim, Update and DLC's ) that a friend shared with me.
I don't know if the problem comes from the CK, the Skyrim or Update.esm file, or my mod's esm file. It was all working perfectly and then everything stop working one after another...

Re-installing Skyrim this way is a no good! You have to do a complete clean re-install. See this guide:

Then you should really reconsider your triggers. The triggers most probably do not have the correct settings!
