I wonder if those partners dropped EGS because of lack of sales? Or something else more sinister?
Also China
The real reason I hate them is how they basically force me to sail the high seas to play some games, since I don't buy timed exclusives due to personal principle (though I do buy them at "release" when they come to Steam, so the devs still get my money, just later).
Recent examples include The Pathless (which I bought mere minutes after it got unlocked on Steam, in December) and Solar Ash (no Steam release date yet but I'm already halfway through and will surely buy it at "release").
Long story short, I'm boycotting them mainly due to timed exclusives. I buy and play video games on my own terms and nothing will change that any time soon.
Edit- https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/news/epic-games-store-2021-year-in-review Nevermind
I will never trust those numbers
But ultimately, all of that can be traced back to one simple fact.
I took up PC gaming to get away from the console wars.
Epic Games ruined that.
1. agree with tyl0413: They abandoned Unreal tournament 4, cause they was enough happy making money with the parents of the ratkids fort-shit-nite 👨👨👦🐀👩👩👧, and dont need work in UT4 (Disrespect to his oldest fans)
2. agree with Competizione: I want to have all my PC games only on steam, as it always was, is and will be. (and I don't trust putting my money in a company that can go bankrupt in the future) + ☭TENCENT-COVID☭ (40%)
3. PC exclusivities (with traitors developers anxious to make fast money)
4. Kidnapping of steam games to make them exclusives to epic and that the games can no longer be purchased on steam never more, like for example Rocket League or now Fall guys
5. The rumors about espionage of data of pc users, idk if is true, anyway i dont care cause i dont have installed epicovid games on my pc.
Summarizing, Tim Sweeney is like the rich kid without friends (only rat kids 🐀🐀) who envies our Uncle Gabe (who earned respect in the neighborhood through many years of hard work and good ideas)(and who have in his party serious people of all ages, intelligent, interesting and respectful, not only rat kids), and like Uncle Gabe doesn't need a new kid-dictator in the neighborhood to force him to be his partner and also impose a profit percentage% dictatorship on his own business, after threats from this new dictator rich kid in the neighborhood and refusing to collaborate with him, Tim created his own shit platform trying to copy steam, and trying to divide and destroy steam/pc-users with his business policy shitty of exclusivities, and that is not good with uncle Gabe and with the intelligent pc users, that is disrespectful. So i hope he spend his money giving away games until he goes broke

*sorry if my english is a bit bad. im spanish
This was why I hated Origin and Uplay. In fact, it's why I hated Steam way back in 2004. I was content to buy my games in a physical store in the form of big boxes of air. I was not happy that Half Life 2 demanded I install this launcher thing and create an account.
These days, I no longer hate Origin and Uplay, and I certainly don't hate Steam. I have plenty of reasons to stick around Steam, and Origin and Uplay are just other stores. They're not good. They're not bad. I have accounts for both of them and even own games. Of course my primary remains Steam.
Epic, on the other hand, could have been just another store, but they had take the evil route and use their successes to fund the Anywhere But Steam campaign. It was specifically the practice of watching for what games are likely to be successful on Steam, and swooping in with a big sack of cash not to sell them there that soured me on the company.
Valve changed their polices, so games can't be advertised on Steam before suddenly going Epic exclusive mere days before release. But still, Epic is throwing big bags of "Not On Steam" money around, and I hate it.
