The 20th ABCT (Armoured Brigade Combat Team)

The Brigade Combat Team is made up of several regiments including 5 RIFLES, 7 RIFLES, 1 RRF, 5 RRF, 35 Royal Engineers, 1 Armoured Medical Regiment, and the The Queens Royal Hussars (Queens Own & Queens Royal Irish).

We currently portray the following units:
5th Battalion the RIFLES
7th Battalion the RIFLES (Reserves)
1 Armoured Medical Regiment
No. 138 Expeditionary Air Wing

Vehicles we Use
Our main focus is on the FV510 Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle, although if mission requires, or if we are working on a specific time period, we will use various other vehicles: Foxhound, Husky, Bulldog, Mastiff 3, Jackal 2, Coyote 2, Snatch, Challenger 2, Quad bike, foot x2.

Our normal period in time of recreation ranges from 2016-Present day, but we also do tours spanning any time period in recent history. (#SLRBestRifle)

How our Operations work
Our operations are completely dynamic - our actions (or lack thereof) influence the rest of the campaign.

If we are playing on a new map, we will invade the map and set up a small patrol base, from which we will further our mission.

If we choose to play on a map we've done before, we will just continue where we left off from.

Who can join
We take pride in having a strong forces base within our membership, including those who serve within the actual 20th ABCT, but whether you're a plumber or a soldier you're welcome here all the same... Unless you're RAF Regt or Azi Ahmed.

Although we are a MilSim unit, and we take operations seriously, we also have a good bit of banter whenever we can... including having the ability to call LBdr's 'Mate'.

Recruitment
As an Applicant you will be allowed to jump in and play with us on our public server: this gives us an opportunity to asses your abilities and for you to get to know us better within the unit. We will also conduct a Board Review between yourself and members of our Recruiting Team.

If you enjoy the way we play, and if we like your performance, then you will be invited to do your Combat Infantryman's Course through us.

The CIC is broken into two (2) phases (1 & 2), with each phase consisting of 2 sessions, starting with the basics and ending up with complex lessons and a final exercise.

Once you pass out of training, you will receive a full promotion to Rifleman, a hard-set assignment to an infantry section, and a daysack. Unfortunately stores are for storing, and therefore you must private purchase your own nightsack.

Renaming and The Future

Renaming

In line with current events within the British Army, we have renamed the unit from '20th Armoured Infantry Brigade' to '20th Armoured Brigade Combat Team'. This is in-line with the Army's push towards modernisation (read: Americanisation). Army 2020 is wild.

Anyhow, nothing much will change within the unit - so far, until we know more information, it'll just be a rename.

The Future

For those of us who still read this stuff on here, there is a possibility of the unit returning again in 2022. Depending on how things go, we may start running operations again in either February or March of 2022. This wasn't planned at all, but after recent events, and with a little bit of pushing from former members, we're gonna give it another go.

FIRST AND FOREMOST: Unless I magically move back to europe in the next few months, the unit will primarily run in the USA's EST time zone. Although this will be a problem for our EU members, we have already gained a
few US members back and they will be helping me along with the unit's revival.

We DO PLAN to operate in EU timezones every so often, especially during joint operations, but our main focus will be in the USA time zone.

Other than that, the real 20th still hasn't upgraded their rifles or vehicles, so things will pretty much be same as before.

Summary

In short, we are renaming and possibly coming back. If anyone has any interest, please give us a shout on here, in messages, or in Discord. I expect to have a TeamSpeak and server sometime around January, if we decide to go forward with the unit's revival.

Happy New Year ladies and gents! It's 2021 now, and I hope everyone has had a fantastic Christmas holiday.

We will begin operations next weekend, where we jump into armoured combat in M1 tanks. Hope everyone is ready for a fantastic year within the 20th!
