okay so, this is an honest review of RR Unbounded.
let's start by saying that it is a fun game, very fun actually. i played the entirety of it in one sitting (took me 7.2 hours to beat 100% since i start)
the soundtrack has some bangers, but it also reaches a point where it has unfitting songs, which could easily be replaced by some Blue Stahli or Celldweller remixes.
the lack of cutscenes and lore in general makes the game kinda pointless, with no rewards other than unlocking new tracks and cars (and stuff to build your own track.)
multiplayer doesn't work, which i won't count as a flaw considering the age of the game.
physix: the physics of this game are good and bad at the same time. the drifting feels HORRENDOUS in any car, and the fact that in drifting specific events a FWD car is the best drifting car says a lot about this feature.
a fix would be to have the same Brake To Drift mechanic and model used in Burnout Revenge, which would also help this game feel faster paced than it actually is
talking about speed, the sense of speed is meh, if they didn't scripted random top speeds it could've been far better, and a motion blur could also help the game feel faster.
no graphic options other than resolution and anistropic filtering is sad
and talking about scripted, this is where it just makes me feel anxious.
the game IS VERY SCRIPTED.
fake boost (or power meter) just ANNOYS me. it doesn't boost your car like a nitrous and that is very unsettling and uncomfortable.
A.I driving in other games already is bad, but in this game it just SUCKS, feels like the developers just messed the whole code and inverted Frag mode with racing,
since the A.I crashes when you don't want to and AVOIDS crashing when you are in Frag Mode (often i've ended with 23 out of 25 frags because of this shait.)
frag mode with a cop car and truck just feels bad, the fact that you can't disable "takedown cutscenes" makes the mini game hard and makes you have to do a LOT of planning and Retrying
to succeed.
another point on physics, is that after a jump, when you're about to land, the physics get unpredictable. you can land perfectly fine or hit anything, even something invisible, and go flying to the air (or turn upside down.)
overall difficulty of the game seems fine. most of the events i completed single try, and had my moments where i had to restart races. some of them due to the poor drifting and landing physics

Don't ever Alt+ Tab out of the game or you'll be granted with a black screen and only a system reset is going to get you back in control of it.

Steering is awful, no graphics settings other than resolution and Anisotropic Filtering.
Controller support (Xbox One in my case) is fully implemented, but not customizable.
The sense of speed is barely there, the ingame music is terrible and all the racing you do doesn't feel too rewarding.
The slow-mo takedowns are okay though and the graphics (at 4K) aren't shabby for a 2012 console port.

Buy elsewhere for 2 €, or better: Play Trail Out instead.

Trail Out continues the successful era of the FlatOut series, when the original developer BugBear obviously felt the need to take over Namco's Nihon Arcade Racer and mix it with Split/Second and Burnout elements, which basically is RR Unbounded.

The idea sounds interesting. The result is not.
