"Why are footsteps so insanely loud in this game?
The first thing I noticed when playing was that my footsteps are so loud that I can only hear those and nothing around me.

Then I heard the dino footsteps and first thought was "this must be a joke, right?" Why do they cause earthquakes when walking? Why are they so insanely loud?Why does the screen shake so much when they approach? What is this ridiculous nonsense?

Even todays we have animals almost as big like african elephants which can weight up to 6000 kg and yet you don´t even hear them walking.

Not only does it make no sense to have such loud footsteps it also destroys the immersion. It makes the game feel like a kids game with these ridiculously overtuned "Rawwrr Rawwwr, stomp stomp dinos", you get me.. Why waste so much potential here?

The best horror is always the subtle one. Imagine the fear when you don´t hear that rex creeping up from a mile away but instead only this low frequent rumble of his calls in the distance..not too loud but loud enough to notice him and be alerted and sheet your pants. Not in this game though. A starting jet does less noise than these dinos here up close..

I´m honestly on the fence of keeping this game or refunding it again. The combination of poor sound design in regards to dino footsteps ( the calls are awesome btw), awful animations of dinos that slide towards you and kill you without any biting animations, janky controls and that horribly unrealistic landscape make it hard to like this game.

Sorry for the harsh words but I had to get this initial feeling I got of my chest because it seems to me there is wasted potential here."

So, there we have it gents, one guy who played 107 minutes in total and single-handedly murdered the FEELING of all players who stuck mutliple hundreds of hours into it and enjoyed the sounds so much.

I still play this together with three friends from other countries and I'm really struggling to motivate them to keep on playing.... Why?

They truly miss the sound of footsteps of the bigger carnivores and the sounds of the old Rex.

It just comes down to this...

Subtle horror is fine in a movie, but you wouldn't wanna be in it because you would be the next victim of the serial killer in 5 minutes.
Just as realism is fine in the real world, of course they would go extinct, because herbivores would hear them coming from miles away.

BUT Jurassic Park says otherwise...

And to the majority of the general public, JP IS what dinosaurs should be, so that's always been and should be the go-to reference here.

Realism doesn't enter into it, gameplay and theming are the driving factors to make this game a success.

Do with my advice whatever you want, I said enough now.
