What good is there to have walls, when the enemy just swaps your units from the walls and puts its doomstack op units there itself? Has no real counter, nor is it a siege in any form.
Walls and Doors are to weak and no real obstacle either and the destroyable barrels barely do anything at all.

The counter I've found to prevent teams with chaos/creation from swapping your archers off of the outer walls is to set them on the inner walls/high platforms instead. This prevents them from as easily swapping my archers, while ensuring that if they do get swapped, it wouldn't be in the middle of the enemy army.

And doors are real good. They only quickly die vs late game stacks and are real effective against anything smaller. Even then they force the enemy into a chokepoint that you can defend easy.

You can do this, you can forgo level ups. That's what increasing command limit is good for, when you want to reroll your choices. If you've been maxing out command limit first every time, that's a mistake imo.

First, thank you for answering. These kind of things have to be said clearly. We don't have our heads in the code or the design meeting. It may even be worth a sticky since those kind of explanation get drowned with time. People can disagree but at least they'll know the thought process behind.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but you seem to be trying to make any custom characters combinations viable. Which in my opinion, is not possible. But messing up is also part of the fun.
I remember spending a lot of time experimenting with classes/races combinations in adom. Some almost unplayable other surprisingly powerful and broken at the same time. The troll healer was exactly that.
I think it's not a bad thing in itself. Messing with those convoluted interaction is fun.

Barrelmancy was never intended in divinity games. It just started as you being able to pile up barrels in a very first two games (sometime breaking the ai in hilarious ways) and ended up as emergent gameplay with the original sin series with the interactions with the content of the barrels.

As a dev myself (but not a game dev, though), I can understand the desire to make a project idiot proof. I would know because I am that idiot.
In the apps I work with you don't want that, but here the worst the player might do is having an unplayable character or breaking quests, maybe.

Regardless, I have been a fan since the first demo you released, even though I'm holding off for version 1.0+ now. So no matter what I can't wait for the game to be complete.

I understand the english VA is trans, but the French VA is not and while the voice acting in French is superior due to the actor actually able to convey emotions, the character is still bad.
