They're robots, not spiders. Robots in the shape of spiders are not spiders. You can also just kill them, same as I'm sure you do when you see a real spider.

I don't often face 5-foot tall spiders in real life but thanks for the insight.

Honestly, don't worry about your defense stat. Defense around 50 just means you're consistently playing people around your skill level. Players at your skill level will trip you up just as much as you successfully defend; it's logistical fact.

People with high defense are basically farming weak opponents. Some people do it with alts. Some really high rank players just end up with weak opponents a lot because there aren't players as good as them available.

If you see a Fujin with 90 def, however, that's padded a ♥♥♥♥.

Because getting ragdolled half a planet by the bloody puff tits is not fun.

First two in 3840 x 2160, last one is 2560x1440.

What I noticed in game and didn't noticed in screenshots: while screens are still blurry and fuzzy, what's make the game worse in dynamic is that strange grainy post-processing effect, that I guess adds a lot to the motion sickness effect.
