Ahh, the classic uneducated naive comparison to F.E.A.R. First of all - apples to oranges - because you're comparing a narrow-corridor-linear-FPS with an open-field-arena-tank-controls-mecha-sim. Secondly, I'm glad you haven't mentioned F.E.A.R. spin-offs/standalone expansions packs such as the "Extraction Point" and "Perseus Mandate" both of which perfectly demonstrate what happens to the famed enemy AI the moment someone less competent takes the development reins into their hands and puts the AI at a disadvantage in situations where it fumbles around... Why? Oh, that's simple - it's because F.E.A.R.'s miraculous AI is just a very good illusion - a very specific algorithm tailor-made in close connection to the corridor-like level design. Thirdly, let's be honest - even if F.E.A.R.'s AI was THAT unique... then barely any game could ever hold a candle to it, so comparing an average horse to a winged unicorn is a bit unfair - don't you agree? Finally, I'm really surprised that you've actually somehow provided the full explanation for the difference in the enemy AI yourself (corridors vs open areas), but seemingly missed the point entirely - that's just hilarious.


Well, F.E.A.R. is a well-written game, but I only played the second part after that, so the most I can do is compare it to the first part. Even though the comparison is naive, it doesn't solve the problem of the game, where you're just being attacked by "tyranids in mechs." .Well, make 15 different behaviors for the Ai, depending on their loadout, so there are those who cover from afar, those who are armed with melee and ranged weapons, those who are waiting in ambush, etc. There are many maps in the game with corridors or winding terrain, but let's ignore it and laugh together =)
