heres a simple google gemini World War I
During WWI, women's roles were primarily in support positions, but their work often brought them into the direct line of fire. In a few instances, they served as combatants, particularly in the Russian Empire.

The Western Front (1914–1918): Women, especially nurses and ambulance drivers, were a constant presence on the front lines. They worked in casualty clearing stations and field hospitals, providing medical care under frequent shelling and bombing. The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY) and the Scottish Women's Hospitals for Foreign Service are notable examples of organizations where women served in dangerous, forward positions.

The Kerensky Offensive (1917): This was a major Russian offensive on the Eastern Front. Maria Bochkareva, a Russian soldier, was granted permission by Tsar Nicholas II to form the "1st Russian Women's Battalion of Death," an all-female combat unit. They fought in this offensive near the town of Smorgon, demonstrating their bravery in battle.

The October Revolution (1917): The 1st Petrograd Women's Battalion defended the Winter Palace against the Bolsheviks during the revolution.

World War II
WWII saw a much greater and more widespread integration of women into military and combat-related roles, particularly in the Soviet Union.

The Eastern Front (1941–1945): The Soviet Union was the only major power to extensively use women in front-line combat roles. Around one million women served in the Red Army, with at least 50,000 on the front lines. They were:

Snipers: Known for their skill and effectiveness, such as Lyudmila Pavlichenko, one of the most successful snipers in history.

Pilots: The "Night Witches," an all-female bomber regiment, flew countless missions, and women also served as fighter pilots.

Partisans: Women fought as partisans behind enemy lines throughout Eastern Europe.

The Pacific War (1941–1945): American, Australian, and Filipino women served in roles such as nurses, signals operators, and in resistance movements. Some, like Florence Finch, who served in the Philippine resistance, were decorated for their bravery.

European Theater of Operations (ETO) (1942–1945):

Resistance Movements: Women played a crucial role in resistance movements in France, Italy, Poland, and Yugoslavia. They worked as couriers, spies, saboteurs, and combatants. Notable examples include members of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and the American Office of Strategic Services (OSS) who were dropped behind enemy lines.

Home Front Defense: In Britain, the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) operated anti-aircraft guns during the Blitz and other campaigns. While not always at the "battle" itself, their work was directly combat-related and exposed them to enemy fire.

Air Operations: Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) in the U.S. and members of the British Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) flew military aircraft, including fighters and bombers, to bases, freeing up male pilots for combat. Though not officially considered combat pilots, their work was dangerous and a number of them died in service.

I don't see a single 1st world country with women in direct combat roles :kill:

I never played COD Ground War so I can't comment there. I'll use BFV as a reference as I didn't buy 2042

User interface is not good, the menu's the class and weapon selection seems bloated and not intuitive compared to BFV. It's very dark, but also cluttered and busy. I definitely prefer the minimalist style of BF4 to the large icon/app store look they seem to have been going for over the last decade (since battlefront 2015)

Cairo map feels like the alleyways of Sienne Crossing/Metro to me, just with the egyptian theme.

Gibralter Map also has a bit of Metro vibe to it but also that southern Province/Marita (BFV) vibe in a modern setting.

Liberation Peak is a bit like Monte Grappa from BF1 or Exposure from 2042. too easy for snipers, painful for infantry moving to capture points and not at all great for vehicles.

The cinematic feeling of combat and the audio with wartapes is pretty good, and being beta most people are running about like lost chickens. Somethings off about it though. Gunplay doesn't feel like earlier titles to me, it feels sluggish compared to BFV, maps are too busy and too action packed to the point that I've gotten bored multiple times due to just being flooded with so much action that I turned it off and did something else.

I'll give it another few hours later tonight and see if my 3rd impression is any better. First impression wasn't great, second impression improved somewhat, so third time lucky maybe.

it was good being able to see ping on scoreboard.

It sucked not being able to choose server or server region.
