People would be much more careful about thos profile pics.
I've never seen or heard anyone banned or even warned against nude, racist or nazi profile pics on STEAM.
Would it be so hard to hire like 50 guys to search and check the community profiles?
you receive a comprehensed emails when multiple reports took an action against.
you could also throw money out of the window.
The latest claim was 125 million /active/ accounts on Steam.
That's 2.5 million accounts for each. They'd have to check the profile pic, the 'about me' section, the showcases, community entries and for good measure the latest postings. Let's ignore that for a while and be mighty generous and say they get 1000 accounts done a day.
That still leaves you with 2500 days (almost seven years) non-stop - and that's not including any changes made to an account.
Even if you up it to 500, that's still a good filled working year - again excluding new accounts and changes. And it's also excluding groups.
On the other hand you have 125 million people who can stumble over offense accounts and report them if they do. So either it is not such a problem people make it out to be (I have only found one so far) or they don't bother to report - which means they don't have a problem with it.
I'm under the impression that people deliberately seek out such accounts. Either you stalk every one you come across or you found that odd guy in a game and looked down his friendslist - which surpise, surprise will be filled with like minded.
Then I got another ban, that ban was quickly removed in an attempt to save face, when I said I was mad about the first ban. Yeah...apparently sexual harrassment punishes the person being harassed now, at least in 2k's eyes.
Needless to say the first thing I did when I got the ban was post it on the various forums I go to, if I prevent 1 person from buying XCOM 2 due to that horrible community management, it'll be worth it.
Seriously my display picture is from an eroge, and I have every XCOM: Eu achievement. I'm the last woman you want to join the SJW's. I'm on your side people!
Nazi symbols? Do you even know what you're talking about? One could assume you are meaning the swastika. I humbly ( not) suggest you educate yourself. Not only does nearly every indiginous people on every continent claim that symbol as THEIR own; but it is NOT illegal to display anywhere that I know of but Germany. (Because they still can't get over being butt-hurt about s a little austrian pulling the bloody wool over their eyes.)
Go martch in a rally, or take some EMT classes, or donate some time to a homeless shelter. but by all means; drink a glass of stfu.
On Steam.
S.x.
No, someone actually has a "Team Fortress 2 Hack" group ON STEAM.
S.x.
Wouldn't it be just like a Nazi to ban a image?
Also, a lot of games have said images in them. So you want those banned too? This can all go down a slippery slope when all you have to do is ignore.
There's a difference between making a videogame that lets you shoot nazis, and sticking neonazi propaganda on your user profile page. And no, it's not illegal censorship for Valve to exercise the powers to moderate the community granted to it by the ToS you agreed to.
