steam not downloading with full speed and dropping to 0
Hi, recently I bought new internet for my home with speed limit to 1Gb/s and most of the speed tests show around 920-950Mb/s. That's supposed to be around 115MB/s on platforms like steam. Sadly my download speed on steam shows 25-30MB/s, occasionally going up to around 80 for a moment then dropping again. I tried everything I could think of including changing download region, clearing steam cache, reinstalling the app and even formatting my pc but nothing changed. Also, steam has a habit of randomly dropping speed to 0 for no reason. I never had any problem like this on other apps like Ubisoft Connect or Epic with my old and new internet, only steam seems to have this and I don't really know what to do because I bought better internet plan mostly to download bigger games without problems

disk activity?
if so then your hardware is probably too weak for Steam downloads and unable to handle download and Steams file ops at the same time.

While downloading disk activity is around 40-50%. And I know that my pc is not the strongest one and requires an update for years now, but it's weird that it's good enough for others apps and only steam have this problems

Do you have a Western Digital NVMe PCIe SSD where you download your games onto?

Turn off Write Caching on the Device (see device manager)
and also disable NetworkThrottlingIndex in the registry.

That should fix the issue.

Steam can obliterate 1gbps connections

your downloads are limited by

1) your cpu
2) your disk
3) your anti-virus
4) your ISP
