What happened with free games in weekend?

April had Rocket League. It doesn't happen every weekend or even most weekends.

free weekend is up to the devs/studios of the game(s), not steam.

You probably just didn't notice them because free weekend games no longer automatically appear in your library. People complained about "advertisements" popping up in their library, so now you just have to watch the main store page to notice when there's a free weekend.

There was also a fairly sizable amount of time where Payday 2 was having a free play event over the Summer Sale.

I 'm just saying that before giving free games on weekends more often, now is not as often.

i have not seen a single free weekend from 2003-2012.

last weekend and currently still running for the next two hours a game named Atlas Reactor was/is play for free.

and you know that the games are just available to play for you that specific weekend, right? you do not keep those games.

to clarify, "Steam" does not decide those free weekends, the publisher/developer of the game does.

This is probably why he thinks there used to be more free weekends in the past. They used to show up in the library automatically, but so many people complained about the "unwanted game" showing up that they stopped doing it.
