In my honest opinion you were the best steam moderator so far.
I can't imagine how someone else could do it better and missed you already the last time (i've noticed less activity in the past), it's really sad.
You pushed this community in the right direction and i'm now scared about the future of this (steam-forum) community.
However i wish you all the best and good luck with your live.
Also to all the other moderators, thank you!
♥️
I would imagine that was a mis-click - sadly we never really had the tools to do proper moderation (like undo a community ban, or select multiple post - and other things that make moderation very cumbersome and more prone to the (very occasional) error).
But I guess considering how you have expressed how you feel about some of the changes around here (and I agree), it should come as no surprise.
Not cool, Valve.
I am surprised we got ANY notice, honestly. The fact we were told just shows how much they trusted us. Most places would have revoked, then notified the volunteers, with worries that they may abuse the tools before leaving.
Thanks, good Spawn.
Unfortunately Valve really never realized the potentials of the Steam Discussions. I know it may sound crazy, but Valve missed the boat and Steam was largely replaced by Reddit and Discord. Valve never improved the group chats with basic functionalities that would have made them actually useful and people looked for a replacement until Discord came along.
And the Steam Discussions feel more like an old-school vBulletin board that is not meant for a large, international multi-lingual platform like Steam. If you think about it, most people who want to talk about the nitty-gritty details of any game or just share memes, videos and hold discussions now visit the appropriate subreddit of that game. That's where communities go nowadays, not the Steam Discussion board.
I still hope that Valve changes anything about this but I think with the implementation of professional moderators, the Steam Discussion board will mostly turn out to be a place you go to discuss technical issues rather than actually interact with the community. I would not mind a total overhaul of the forums and the chat but at this point I don't see it happening anymore, at least not anytime soon.
Either way, thanks to all the other (ex-)mods, it was cool hanging out with you back in the day, see ya around!
Will this thread stay open and pinned after you guys have your powers removed ? So you know.........mods that maybe missed the chance can still post and thanks be given by regular users also ?
But it's also entirely possible that the pinned thread will simply be forgotten, the non-volunteers generally just work based on reports. And reports have a few ways of being broken and never actually reaching the support staff ;)
