Desperate for a great survival game

Give me some suggestions please.

My favorites have been 7 Days to Die, Conan Exiles, Green Hell - stuff like that. Open world, survival crafting, pitting you against the elements (or zombies...). Chopping down trees, mining rocks, catching wildlife.

Doesn't even necessarily need to be on Earth... Either way I'm desperate for another survival game and can't seem to find any. I can't "handle" minecraft or valheim (that weird, voxely, blocky, logo-y crap really messes with me....)

Any suggestions?

I'm a similar fan, in that those you mention are my favourites.

I take it you've tried Ark Survival Evolved? It's enjoyable but quite clunky. It makes up for it in what it is though.

Also, I recommend Raft too. It's a bit slower especailly at the start, but a very enjoyable game too.

Mist is quite nice too. Not played a lot of it yet, but I've enjoyed what I've played thus far.

I would caution against the Forest though. Again a great little story and on paper a good game, but the combat is complete crap. It just feels really off coupled with the AI movement. It can be really unfair especially if you're in for a more laid back experience. It does, however, have a peaceful mode with the ebnemies removed but that really spoils it.

I recommend Don't Starve and/or Don't Starve Together, one of the best, if not the best survival game I've ever played

I recommend the Fallout series, especially Fallout 4 if you're into base building and free roaming.

Also, I suggest trying "The Forest" out.

Check some of the survival games in my games list. I own a lot of the best survival building games which I enjoy a lot as well. Ark is a good game but not as good as some others. RUST might be interesting to you. I do not play it because it forces you to restart every time they do a major update & I hate starting over. Did that enough with 7 Days to Die.

I am enjoying State of Decay 2 at the moment. It has very basic crafting and base building. And you can play on various difficulties.

Perhaps Frostpunk. It is a city builder survival game. The game is real time and you do have some choices that need to be made. The game is mainly strategy and planning though.

If you want a unique survival game try "Hobo: Tough Life". Great and challenging game. No zombies though.

I absolutely echo The Long Dark.

It's differnt to the likes of 7DTD and their ilk, as it's got a really neat backbone of a story (or alternatively you can play a more sandbox mode without the story).

It has a great art style, the atmosphere and sound is amazing and the gameplay utterly works well for a hostile icy environment.

I cannot recommend it enough.
