That is still no reason to throw that disrespect back at them because they threw it at you. just take a step back every once in a while and calm down a little when you get into that position, take it on the chin and move on.
Now the ban could be a short one, but the idea of the ban isn't to punish you, it is to help you realise you can't go around behaving however you please. So hopefully you can figure out how to be a little less confrontational and a little more productive when the ban is lifted (not to say i'm accusing you of anything).
Steam moderation is applied to games where valve hired moderators do the job.
The moderators in other game hubs are one officer assigned by the developer/publisher and the officer goes out and chooses users to become moderators on that game hub. they all have their own rules and how they go about their moderation.
It is difficult to tell what moderators are like from one hub to the next, but generally not getting confrontational, following the rules and watching how the moderators apply their powers can be useful to figuring out where the limits are.
The professional standard is to allow each studio to run their forums as they see and not enforcing rules that make them completely abandon Steam - either as a store or a community platform.
Their house - their rules. Just because it is a Steam ready-built doesn't change the fact. Same as each subreddit will be moderated by different standards.
You miss that humans rate human interaction. There is no one truth to follow, no rule apparatus to cover it all. That's why we have courts and judges whose decissions can even be appealed.
Also previous warnings/bans and your general behaviour will be taken into account.
Anyway, you can discuss your ban within the community message found on the right side ---->
Which is the way to do it. Not on the forums.
I believe you're not alone and in the plus column, you seem to be handling this situation far much better than others.
I should do a "five stages of being forum banned" comic strip.because it happens relatively often on Steam and its subsidiaries.
This one is the "five stages of no Internet access"

Ah yes, the "whataboutism".
You CANNOT know what infraction they received. How do you tell they got a warning, or anything else? The ONLY evidence you can see is if the user gets banned, and you check.
So don't use that argument because it's flawed. NObody doing a bad action excuses your bad action. Otherwise we'd have an awful lot of murderers on the streets wouldn't we? "Hey judge, I know I killed that guy, but there's plenty of other people that have done the same, so let me off, yeah?"
So yes, it's flawed for thos two major reasons. Someone else's behaviour is IRRELEVANT.
You know what you do here that is the cardinal rule - report, block, move on.
And why that is so is because you don't get pulled into breaking rules yourself, and you leave those with the ability to check EVIDENCE to deal with it.
So just do that, No exceptions.
False equivalence.
It is NOT dumb. You just didn't read or abid by the rules you AGREED to.
It's very simple. Hentai games here are ALLOWED. Calling people idiots in conversation ISN't. It's clearly stated.
And again, none of this disputes my previous points.
Report block move on. THat's WHY it's so. YOu get childishly pulled into breaking rules yourself, so you got caught and you CANNOT tell what infraction the other party received unless they got an outright ban.
DON'T BREAK RULES YOUVE ALREADY AGREED TO.
It does not matter what you believe is fair or not as game forums can enforce the rules as they see fit to an extent and if you got caught name calling or insulting other people then they had a right to ban you.
I strongly suggest you don't keep doing the same thing here also as they can revoke your privilege to use the forums at all if they so wish.

There are rules
Stop breaking them
Its easy
What makes you think you won't have the same issues with moderation at Epic's site?
