I posted a screenshot without specifying the sexual scene, but it was stopped.
A total of 102 screenshots of YOU and ME and HER A Love Story have been changed to 'Only I Can See', and I can't upload community content to Steam until November 11.

I can't accept this disposition after seeing my blocked public screenshot.

The two are email and blockout periods that allow you to see the number of blocked screenshots.

I have uploaded 3 of the blocked screenshots.

The rest of the screenshots are of a similar type.

I've already challenged the Steam Customer Center, but I don't think it'll be solved.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Also, I've seen screenshots of sexual scenes being explicitly portrayed in community content in other games. Such content has not been deleted. Why is there such a difference in the guidelines for each game?

There isn't, I think the developer has been playing tricks on you.

This is all about context: if the game as it's originally published on Steam contains nudity and/or sex scenes then there is no problem at all to share screenshots of that game. But if a game does not have any of this but provides patches to add nudity then that becomes a slippery slope. Because now it depends on how the game was designated with Steam.

I'll explain this easier: If you add a game to Steam and clearly mark it as adult which can contain nudity (or more) then there's no issue with uploading screenshots.

If you add a game and merely mark it as "adultish" (so: no sex scenes and no full frontal nudity) but then also provide a patch to add this then players can get into problems with adult screenshots. Because the original game didn't have that kind of nudity.

Do keep in mind that when I mention "sharing screenshots" then I'm only referring to the official methods. So: uploading screenshots using the Steam client and optionally showing them on your profile using the official screenshot showcase for that.

I am not talking about artwork showcases because those follow an entirely different ruling (no nudity allowed in there at all, just like your avatar and such).

(edit / update)

So I looked into the game you mentioned (this one, right?) and I noticed that it isn't marked as adult only. Ergo: there should be no issues with screenshots, because the game doesn't contain any sexual stuff (according to the developer).

Therefor I can't help wonder if there wasn't another reason. Maybe you reached a screenshot threshold? There is a maximum to the amount of screenshots you can share.

The content was removed by the game's developer staff. They had provided the reason for removal as "the image not being from the game's version". Developers may have their own rule set as to what is considered acceptable as content uploads. We are unable to remove these bans as a result.

As with everything on Steam, we rely on feedback from our community to calibrate our decisions. I have forwarded this report to other members of Valve to be a part of our conversation as we continue to improve our service.

I got a reply from the customer service center. It's even more ridiculous!

It doesn't make any sense. The screenshots I took are only those of you and me and HER A Love Story I bought from Steam.

If it's an image that's not in the game version, isn't it saying that the game that the developer sells is a pirated version? I'm dumbfounded.

Your answer was helpful. So I have no choice but to accept this penalty?

And the game has a 3 party of steam +18 patch from the dev's/Publisher. That's your problem. If they decide the content is from that patch, they are fully in their right to remove them.

I got it. I was surprised because it's my first time doing this. I'll be careful from now on.

Glad it got resolved, but I am really sorry you had to find out the hard way.

In the end this is somewhat the developers fault in my opinion, they should warn their players about this instead of casually handing out adult changing stuff and then punishing players who use it. If they had the balls they would have published the game as-is, so with all the right adult labels and warnings and such, then players wouldn't have to worry.

I can't stand developers like that to be honest... they don't want to label their product as adult, but still want to provide for those who enjoy that stuff. But without taking responsibility for it themselves (as shown above).

I most definitely won't be buying much games from this developer, I think I'm going to add them to my ignore list instead.

Thank you again for your reply. As a last resort, I'll contact the developer support center. :-<

Patches aren't pirating what even is that leap of logic

1500 screenshots ... for a single game? a visual novel?

Because your screenshots did not violate our Content Rules and the developer had other reasons for removing them, I have removed all of the bans, though the images will no longer appear in the game hub. As a result, you content upload ban has also been reversed and you're now free to upload additional images.

Please note that the developer does not seem to want these types of screenshots in the game hub and will likely ban any other similar screenshots uploaded there.

If you have any other questions, write back and let us know.

Fortunately, it's been solved! The blocked screenshots have been re-publicized and I have converted a total of 102 problematic screenshots so that only friends can see them.
ミトラ Jul 31, 2020 @ 10:59pm
To explain why there are different guidelines for each game in terms of the sexual scenes being portrayed, we are only allowed to leave up posts that have been made on the official STEAM release of the game.

The R18 patch was not allowed on release on STEAM so we cannot allow sexually explicit screenshots from the patch to be on the page.

Allowing posts displaying nudity may have the game be removed from STEAM so we must remove them as a precaution.

The issue revolves around context and the steam release of the game does not contain nudity or sex scenes as they were removed to comply with STEAM's rules.

That being said, I did look into your account's screenshots and found images that did not come with the STEAM release of the game

The rules for the community page state that NSFW screenshots and content is not allowed to be posted.

Before I can move on to the ban reports you mentioned, please remove these NSFW screenshots beforehand.

I have not banned the NSFW images yet, but will start tomorrow giving you the chance to do so.

Afterwards I am more than happy to review your ban appeal again and hopefully resolve your issue.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me again.

------------------

This is the developer's position. They say they will block the remaining screenshots of this type. The problem is that all the remaining screenshots are now "only friends can see." But he can see my profile and the screenshot he took as an example is a converted one that "only friends can see." I'm asking again if screenshots that only friends can see can be removed as a violation of guidelines.

Thanks for sharing, and I am very happy for you!

Even though I dislike those situations myself (as mentioned above) I also think it's very cool that the developer didn't just dismiss you but worked together to come to a solution.

Thanks again for sharing, it's always good to hear when things got worked out to everyone's approval.
