Blank News pop-ups?
You know the "News" pop-ups that open when you first start up the Steam client for the day? Half the time they load as blank pages that only load properly if you click the next button then click back.
That isn't such a big deal but if there is only one then there is no Next or Back buttons to press and no way to load the "News".
This wouldn't be an issue at all if we could go to News in the Store and see what should have been in the pop-up, but the "News" in the pop-ups is never on the actual News page so there are days that I have no idea what the "News" was and can miss out on freebes or good sales. I get that this could be caused by my personal preferences to not see MMO's, or RPGMaker games.

Basically my question to the group is: How do you find out what the "News" of the day was if it shows as a blank window? I can't find it anywhere on the site and do note that it doesn't always appear in the Featured & Recommended section of the store.

Thanks

Thanks I appreciate that but it has nothing to do with the browser. As I said it's the Steam client that has the blank pop-ups.
The news at those links does not list the deals that are being advertised as "News" by the client when it first opens after the daily system updates.
the Steam client is a webbrowser and displays websites everywhere.
even you library is a local website now.
the chat is a locally off-rail updated website
and the entire rest are just websites.

steam settings -> webbrowser -> delete cache.
main window -> view -> update news

:teddy_talk: Using my Steam browser, accessing the Steam news sites, works for me.
(BTW: I'm on a Intel Win 10 laptop and I don't know if you're on a PowerPC Mac)

I would switch browsers that are supported, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc..

So, if you're using Internet Explorer, that browser is being phased out and doesn't support alot of the newer website componentry and newer thingamajigs.

wuddih thank you. That was exactly what I was looking for. The link in the client that opens the news window. I will keep an eye on the cache in future but
"main window -> view -> update news"
was exactly what I was asking for.
I couldn't see it in the drop down no matter how hard I looked. I'm so obviously a guy. ;)

Thanks again.

Looks like I need to delete my cache because I notice blank News popups every so often.

Wonder why the client doesn't automatically clear out the cache on exit or something so that it doesn't reoccur so much...
