threads with no new posts have bold titles

Does bold title not mean what I think it means?

I believe a bold title on posts are unread by you, for example, I frequent this Steam forum and most threads are not bold to me, meaning I read most of these threads.

A thread with a recent comment will turn bold as that thread has become unread by me and if I read it, it will un-bold until a new comment is added and it will re-bold or is un-read by me.

I do sometimes have topics with posts I have read remain bold for a variable period of time (the relevant posts remain highlighted as well) but it usually corrects itself within a few minutes.

bold means new since last visit.

there is a last visit timer for every board which gets stored in a "cookie". sometimes rewriting that cookie to update it puts in cached values instead of current ones, so it the last visit is older and more stuff is new again.

easily fixable but there is certainly more interesting stuff to do than such visual inconsistencies. so this is since like ... forever.

It's that simple? I see it all the time (and it's super annoying) but I guess I've just not tried refreshing. Thanks.

And F5/"manual" refresh doesn't work for me, either, so I'm stuck opening the thread(s) again. Although sometimes the bold goes away on its own, after a while. Haven't noticed a pattern to it, but it does happen.
