Is GB studio safe?
I have just heard about this program and I wanted to try it but when I open it Windows shows a warning that it can be dangerous (author is unknown).
I know there are false positives and that I am quite obsessive, more than I should, I am almost sure that this program is safe but I'm just not confident enough to run it right now :(

Did you buy it from steam?

It is not a virus and will never be. Steam does not distribute virus ridden stuff.

What specific error or popup are you seeing? Because they are always false positives if you bought it on steam and dl'd it from there too.

You mean except the time they sold a game that contained a hidden cryptominer aka malware

FFS.

How many products exist on steam?

How many have had ONE problem?

ONE.

which was dealt with IMMEDIATELY.

Stop spreading lies and panic with that garbage. It's old ass news.

FFS don't use terms like "never" and get offended when people prove you wrong!
And I'm not spreading lies, it's a proven fact so stop your insults and defamation.

.... Defamation like 'LOOK AT THIS ONE EXAMPLE OMG!!!' you mean?

The OP's request has been answered *correctly* long before you came by with this.

No it is a freeweare (not from Steam, it has its own web site) and I don't think Steam could sell it since it is used to make games for the Gameboy

That wouldn't matter unless it came packaged with licensed code like BIOs or something. (It doesn't). If GBdev wanted to monetize it they could 100% legally.

Ok but I don't think on Steam.
1) it is used to make games for a console. It would feel weird to have it on a store for PC games, it would be like encouraging people to play on consoles instead of PC for a company that sell PC games.
2) that console died long ago I mean of course many (myself included) still love it but nobody outside indie developers interested in its own retrogames would support it, do you really think Valve would? Lol. It would just feel way too weird.
They could probably sell it on their own website, but not here.

Steam already sells software for development of console games. I myself have GMS2, and there are plenty of others

I thought it could export to HTML5 and PC Exe as well?
SuckerFreeGames Oct 27, 2021 @ 12:55am
Nope HTML5 and ROM. BUT there are wrappers you can use to make it EXE. :)
