3 hours too much for 2 hour refund policy
Now I understand COMPLETELY about your refund policy. COMPLETELY. BUT Also in your policy it was stated that 2 hours playtime does NOT mean I can’t get a refund. I would understand if I ACTUALLY played the game for more than 2 hours. But here’s the ♥♥♥♥ing issue steam. I bought Rust for 37$ so I could play it and have some fun and I know exactly what I was buying. BUT, when I got on that game from the moment I clicked launch that ♥♥♥♥ing timer started going. 3 hours. Seriously. It took me 30 mins (NOT EXAGGERATING EITHER LOOK UP LOADING TIMES FOR RUST) just to load into the main menu, then on top of that I waited another 30 just to get into a server and when I actually did it was SO. CHOPPY. I could not play the game. So eh I reset my whole computer deleted everything I had. A good refresh. Redownloaded steam and rust and tried again. But still no it did the same thing and this time I wasn’t even able to get INTO a server. All that totaled 1. Not 2, but 1 hour over your refund policy’s 2 hour limit. This is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t I’ve been ♥♥♥♥ED OVER on 37$ because y’all didn’t accept my refund request over 1 hour. This needs fixed or I’m just going to blow a bunch of threads up spamming this same paragraph. It’s ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. Needs fixed, now.

No one forced you to play over the 2 hour limit

That’s your responsibility

steam can only see if the program is running, not what is happening in game

go to your purchase history, select the game purchase, then select "I have a question". explain the issue, and hope for a different answer. keep it polite and to the point. if they say No, then your only other option is to go to that games forum and seek help getting it to work.

when you go to the rust forum, make sure you post your system specs.

why did you make so many threads? you only needed 1.

30 minutes to load into menu = issue. At 5 minutes you should be force closing it to figure out why it's not loading. 30 minutes is not normal, for any game. Unless you go back to loading using cassette tapes.

Valve is not at fault for refusing a refund. There system merely knows a game is active. Nothing else. Only way for Valve to learn and record the sort of data required to determine if users are actually playing a game versus their current method would require excessive access to users systems.

Check requirements versus your hardware before purchasing in future. Keep an eye on the play time. Especially if you're having issues with a game so you can refund in the 2 hour window.

As for now Fix/upgrade your system. Asking in the Rust forums may help.

you stop there.
you probably already made the mistake of not reading system requirements.

and i really dunno why someone would buy rust for full price, it is a $1 bundle game.

That is going to work really well.

These are user forums and Steam Support won't see your posts. Try clicking on the game in the help section and select that you still have a question about this purchase. An email should come up. Ask for a refund and explain why. If you want your refund, I suggest you be nice.

So when you couldn't connect to that first server why didn't you try another instead of allegedly trying for 3 hours to continue to that one single server? There are many available servers out there.

And well, you could also have concluded that "I can't even get on a server within 2 hours, screw this game!".

This isn't Steams fault. You know exactly what you're getting yourself into. And well; like I said I can't help but agree with them that it sounds very odd: trying for 3 hours to connect to 1 single server while there are a lot more out there.

(edit)

"Steam stole $37"? Now you're sounding like a troll to me. Steam sold you the game, but they didn't develop it. If you want to be angry for an allegedly not working game then blame the developers, not Steam. "Don't shoot the messenger" applies here.

And what's with the spamming spree? That only makes you look bad.

It's threads like these that make me want Valve to flat out refuse all 2+ hour refunds barring major technical issues with the game itself.
ajap May 30, 2019 @ 5:48am
1. This is not steam fault, cuz you played this game over limit.
2 When I had pc with 6GB ram I had to w8 like 20-30 minutes to load game, So if you upgrade your pc, then you can play rust eazly. + re-instal your windows for batter configuration

I said I finally got into it and my computer was being very slow so I reset it to see if it would help and it didn’t, my patience got tested and now I’m mad about it because it’s a damn WASTE. I meet the system requirements completely which also makes no sense as to why it takes that long to load. Look up the issue it’s VERY common. And I didn’t know about that issue until I started having it. So like I said 1 hour over the spending limit is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all because of the time it took to load. I did NOT spend 2 hours on the game at once so there ya wrong for even saying that. It’s ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ either way you look at it I got scammed out the money. And 1$ bundle? Never seen that never heard about it and it’s not even the point. The point is I got my money stolen from me because of a piece of ♥♥♥♥ game and I explained WHY it’s a piece of ♥♥♥♥ game.

That is the whole point of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ refund policy, so you can get out if the damn game doesn't work. But you, you sit there waiting 30 minutes to get into the menue and think to yourself "well, I'm sure this will be fine lulz".

And now you are here rolling on the floor screeching.

Seriously, I don't even know what to say to this, this is pig-stupid.
ShelLuser May 30, 2019 @ 5:58am
First of all... I can fully understand that you're upset. I really do. But dude: calm down. It's not helping your case trying to blow a fuse here. I'm not saying "it's only money", heck no, but you won't resolve anything while being angry.

My take: get this out of your system somehow. Sleep it off, then try again tomorrow.

Anyway...

While that may be so, it's not common for a game not to start up within 30 minutes. Before I had my current high end PC I was using a Win7 32bit machine with 4Gb memory and a very mediocre NVidia card. I could run Minecraft, but... not without "OptiFine" (which is an optimization mod).

I also played games, I think I even tried Rust once, but I never waited 30min for a game to start. That's just not normal.

It's not bull. They have to set a limit somewhere. And a game not working within 1 hour should already ring some alarm bells, it's simply not normal for a game to stall like that.

The problem though is that this game works perfectly for hundreds of others, so the chances are high that the reason it's not working is your PC.

Open your Steam library (edit: using the Steam client, not the website of course), go to the 'Help' menu and select "System information". Then paste the entire output here so that we can have a look see. Maybe some of us can help figuring out what's wrong.

Alright let me hop on the pc
Wizzop May 30, 2019 @ 6:06am
And not everyone is an inpatient person there’s been plenty of games on startup that take quite a while. I was patient and wanted to play the game that is why I let it load HOPING it would work. Not being “pig-stupid” it’s called I was being patient now not so much.

True, but it also means you're not guaranteed a refund when you're over the 2 hours.

Irrelevant. Steam support can only see the program was open. And everybody can say "they didn't" play it, you can't expect Steam support to go after sob stories.

That's how a playtime timer works. It's not rocket science.

So what you're saying is that it's your own fault you went over the 2 hour limit? Guess what, you're right.

No, it's BS that you start your post with sayingthat you understand the refund policy, but now demand a refund while you're over it. Even though you KNOW that you're not entitled one.

The only person that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ you over, is *you*.

That'll only result in a ban from the forums. There is nothing to fix, you went over the refund limit. And as you stated in your first sentence, you completely understand the refund policy. So most part of your post contradicts what you're saying.

Try to ask the developer for a refund, they can give Steam support permission to issue one.
