[Solved] It looks like you've been attempting a lot of purchases in the last few hours.
Well I purchaed a game, then wanted to purchase another one and got this silly message.
I then added another one and tried again and again got that silly message.
I waited 40-50 mins total and still get that silly message.

Do you want me to spend money or not?
I mean are you seriously telling me 1-2 purchases are a lot?

Did you recently change anything important on your profile?

Nah, nothing.

I now also was able to finish that purchase, I guess there was a server issue.

I still keep hitting a brick wall. I am trying to buy 7 games.

I waited 1hr total, but tried in between, so the tries at least don't seem to reset that cooldown.

But still, it sucks and I guess getting this message after 1-2 purchases is still a bug.

$hittet unneeded security.

Weird, it normally takes about 10 purchases within a couple of hours to trigger that.

Sometimes it looks like:
  1. 1st click — your card is expired;
  2. 2nd click — you out of money (another card);
  3. 3rd click — "no reaction, I will click again";
  4. 4 — subject of this topic.

you can bypass this by topping up your steam wallet first and then buying games.

Sadly, from 1/1/2021 it cannot be performed for me.

i tried to top up wallet in-game and it hung, so i tried topping up via Steam, so now i get the 'It looks like you've been attempting a lot of purchases in the last few hours. Please wait a while before trying again.' message... It's infuriating.
So is there a way to reset it or not?

Yup, the thing to remember is you CANNOT know exactly what triggers it and how, or it could easily be worked around and exploited.

There's going to be many security factors that go into these things, from how quickly you keep requesting and triggering said error, to other errors and problems.

It's generally NOT a good idea to keep banging away trying because of the risk of trggering other errors. Some of the official ones from the banking end DO Have stricter cooldowns, and if you keep running up against them, you get nowhere fast. We see it a lot over the sales periods here.

Commonly one is the general erro that triggers their end for something like too many flawed attempts. That can trigger a 24 hour cooldown on their payment system. If you then keep trying you can simply reset that 24 hour clock.

So it's good practice to simply do something like this - if it happens to you, try again , and if it happens the same. STOP.

Go and do something else for at least an hour then return. Try once more. If sthings are still the same, leave it until the very last thing before you go to bed, and try once more. If it still persists then, then make notw to leave a CLEAR 24 hours just to make sure before trying again.
