7mb/s Download speed for games? Is this good or bad?

Howdy iam just wondering how my service is serving me I just got it installed today ( Comcast ) iam able to downlaod a 8gb game within 12-15 Minutes timeframe.Whats your thoughts on this,fast or no?
Compared to what I had before this is like day and night diffrence, In the past it would take me a day or so (24hrs) to download 1 game lol. Pretty pathetic Huh?

See I also get around 7MB/s when I download on steam... But my actual download speeds are 60MB/s. So I wan't to know why Steam does not give me faster download speeds considering I am seeing that some people are saying they are getting up to 10MB/s. I understand it depends on server location and what not, but still 10MB/s is not a whole lot.

ISPs advertise their speeds in Mb/s (Megabits a second), Steam displays the speeds in MB/s (Megabytes a second).

8Mb=1MB

So a 60Mb connection will have a max download of 7.5MB after the conversion.

You are getting realy close to your max speed.

The Fastest ive seen Steam on my account was 7 Mb/s, but I dont know if this is on accont of location ( Chicago) area isnt known to have the fastest service. But still would be nice to know someones getting there moneys worth actually.

lol, I had half of your speed while using my Virgin mobile wireless internet stick ( thingy ) and they had the nerve to charge $50 a month for that garbege!

I think you need to go to Speedtest.net and test your speed. It sounds as if you have faster than what you think. I have a 6Mbs and it takes me about 3 1/2 hours to download an 8GB game.

I dont think you really have 6MBS it takes 0.37037037037037037037037037037037 hours to download a game at a steady 6MBPS . I did the math(its in kilobytes) heres a simple equation to figure it out
8000000(8 GB in KB)/6000(6 MB in KB)/3600(number of seconds in an hour) = 0.37037037037037037037037037037037 .

Notice I used small letters. I know what I have. The fastest I have ever games download on Steam from my connection at home was 712Kbps.

I will run the speed test thing you mentioned but here iam downloading a game right now which is 5.5 Gb, My current download is 7.1 MB/S and peak is at 7.2MB/S also. Says estimated time is 12-14 Minutes for a 5.5 gb game. Seems to be the case,I dont know?
