Is XCOM Enemy Unknown a good game?

It is, but there's a more dreadful enemy than the aliens in it. The financial management aspect can soft-lock your progress.

If you enjoy it, spring for enemy within. It's completely worth it.

I'd echo this. I find it the preferable of the two. I found this second one more prone to making the wrong decision ruining your game for you.

Haven’t played it on PC, but I enjoyed it on the Xbox One and that was using a controller so I imagine the it plays better with mouse and keyboard

Yes, very much so.

It's even better if you have the Enemy Within expansion as that includes human augmentation and mech suits.

I personally very much enjoy the game. I don't know what it's like for other people but I really start caring for my individual units. I run 3 active teams in the game, so if I screw up and somebody gets hurt, they can be rotated out. My snipers are amazing.

It's a fun enough game, though I prefer XCOM 2. There's a new XCOM game coming out, btw, called Chimera Squad.
