games for toddlers/preschool
Hey, my little one is about to go into nursery in the UK, I guess that's kindergarten in USA. They've been playing on TokiTori2+ and like it, but it gets too hard after about 20 mins so we keep resetting.

They can't read yet and fast action is impossible to handle due to low motor control.

Any game suggestions? No blood or gore, please.

They've also been playing a little BotW but the monsters are too hard as they only have 3 hearts, and the shrine puzzles are too hard too.

Thoughts?

I recommend Game Dev Tycoon
Steam isn’t the best place to get games for really little kids like that.... There are way better places to buy preschool/kindergarten games.

Game Dev Tycoon

From https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5MYcqyvMFUM it seems there's lots of text to reas, quite a bit of typing, and quite complex gameplay. Seems more a 7 years+ game to me.

I'll consider it, obviously we can play together, but I'm keen for them to do most of the gameplay if possible.

TokiTori2+ and BotW are fine art the starting level, if they didn't get harder they'd be perfect!

I'm after desktop computer games; they don't have to be on Steam though.

for that motor control problem, i would recommend:
match 3 based games. stuff like "bejeweled" or probably more known to you, "candy crush"
"where is waldo" games, also known as hidden object. stuff like "hidden folks" or "under leaves"
those genres usually dont have time elements or not much at least.

then gradually let them play quake and cs and raise shroud 2.0 ... j/k.
Isn't that a little too young for computer games? Personally I think, it would be enough to let the little ones get into this habit with 6 or later. And 20 minutes screen time at a piece sounds close to some limits at this age even without as intense focus as games demand.

If you have to, look into what is usually described as "casual" games. Something bright, colourful, with few moving parts. In this case hand out brief gaming sessions as a reward two or three times a week.
Neighbours From Hell, Feeding Frenzy n Zuma.. the classic time waster of 2000s

It’s people like you holding us back... will we ever complete our machine symbiosis at this rate ???
It really depends on the age.. (Kindergarden/nursery) kids can be all from 6 months - 5 years old.
If we talk about under 3 year, then there are a few easy games that have you click and move stuff, if above 3 then you can begin to introduce abit more advanced stuff. There is a "kids" tag on steam.

I think the biggest problem for kids is the manual camera control, if they can see everything properly I think they can pick up on most controls pretty easily. Those games seemed easy.

If we had talked about 5-10 year olds, then I would also say that Splunky is super good..

You want a mastermind once it grew up? Let it have crusader kings or there are a ton of free chess games. Otherwise my little pony. No violence, colorful and a maximum of harmony.
