Automatically categorize library games by genre
Thanks to Humble Bundle, many of us have hundreds of games in our steam library.
I currently have 210 games and I honestly don't even know which they all are.

I know you can create custom categories for games in the library, but it would also be nice if you could automatically categorize the games by genre.

For example, I feel like playing a racing game now but it's hard to judge from the massive list of titles which game is which.

The steam store already lists a game's genre, so why not enable sorting by genre in the library too?

you can just type in what genre you want in the catagory box at the rightclick on the game bring up the selection menu go to catagories and type in the box what genre you want it to be in then when you have another of the same typ of game you just have to put a check mark in place and it automatically sends the game to that catagory

Nice, that website is actually pretty useful and a good workaround for the initial problem.

I also hope valve will implement something like that in the future directly into steam.

Now that tags are (for the most part) non-stupid, I would like my games sorted by tags as well. Yeah, I know there are ways around it; but for my Library in Steam, that would be very nice for me!

I actually agree with the OP. Automatic categorization should be a thing by now. All games are assigned a main genre, so in the options should have, "Sort games in library by: [Drop Down] Genre, Name, Last Played, Time Played, etc..."

I wrote a program which does exactly this. It adds the shop page genre of the game to your library. All you need is your customurl/steam64 id if your profile status is set to public. ( else you need a steam api key and the steam64id ). Check it out on my github page ;)

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
