NSFW New releases
I like to give Steam a quick check at lunch time while at work, but now I can't because there is a weekly half-naked anime lady on the new release board. (The current example is Super Star). I don't care while at home, but this just stops me from checking sales and buying stuff while at work because it now looks like I'm looking at porn.

  1. No matter how much T&A you show me, I guarantee that I'm never going to buy one of these dating sims.
  2. When did Steam become a softcore porn dealer? I mean that's cool and all, but stores tend to put the porn in the porn section rather than interspersed with the cheerios and t-shirts.

Could you add the option to blur/hide the image (like on deviant art, etc.) if it's an age-restricted game?

Those games usually have an age verification or NSFW warning page before the actual shop page.
And in your example it should be blatantly obvious what the game is by the thumbnail.

I feel like you both missed, and remade my point.

Wait ... you are afraid to get into trouble over one little thumbnail among a dozen? Seriously?! It's 120x45 pixel, hardly recognizable as it is and hardly showing anything worse than some adverts.

I'd be more concerned by the Goat Sim pic.

Actually, main window scroll. For example, ~40% of my browser window goes:

-Guy holding gun
-Guy on planet looking at space ships
-Hentai porn cover
-Poring and a mouse cursor
-Batman symbol

I'm just asking for the blur option, not losing my :poohappy: over the fact that it's there.

And, I avoid or block ads like that if I'm at work. It's about a basic level of respect for those around me. If this option isn't possible, then I just won't look at Steam at work anymore. NBD

Put a post-it note over the offending image?

Right, forums. This is why we can't have nice things.

Why? You're making amountain out of a molehill. There is literally just one picture among the last few weeks releases. A system like yours would require either a Steam employee to manually check every thumbnail or the devlopers tagging it themselves. For the one in a million case it is actually needed.
And I was not talking about internet adverts.

I don't even know where you're seeing that constellation. The only place I can Super Star is in the "All New Releases" list on page 2.

The picture
no "sexual" parts to see. neither porn, nor offensive or anything. nothing to care about or to remove or to censor. if you fill the missing parts with your imagination and feel bad about it, then that is your problem.
I want to work where I can freely browse Steam while on the clock, and my biggest worry would be my own paranoia of my coworkers making fun of me for seeing a thumbnail that's barely 3cm large from the distance between my eyes and my screen.

I don't want to see these games either, as many other games I don't want to see. Occasionally I'll open the game page and click "not interested", and that works for me. I wouldn't even have known of the game you're complaining about if I hadn't opened this thread, because these things don't pop up in my front page.

That said, a lot of games are age restricted. Not just what you seem to think are softcore porn games. Many of these "guy holding gun", "guy on planet looking at space ships", and "batman symbol" are subject to age restriction. Pretty much every game with an adult theme, not exclusively games with nudity as part of it. You would be blocking a good deal of the store, and Valve simply is not going to do that.

+1 to the OP. It's annoying the more these kinds of games pour in.

One could argue that Steam is just a storefront and not curated like other places. Thus it doesn't matter to Valve what sort of tripe is on the store front page, since its merely a storefront and storefronts solely exist to make profits. And one person's tripe is another person's treasure so...

It makes perfect economic sense not to give a damn at all. Corporations like Valve are not your friends.

Yep, how dare people not think my first world problem is their first world problem too

Funny stuff: I login to steam almost daily and I dont have any softporn shoved into my face.

While I don't really share OP's interest in censoring these things, this image is very suggestive. More than enough to be frowned at by some if seen in a workplace.

Technically, you are browsing the store front of a game store, so unless your work involves researching and/or playing games, you're probably not doing your job when browsing such things at work.
