Modify the new UI changes made to the download page, we need link to the change log
Hello
To my big surprise i can see that the UI at the bottom of steam where you can click and start to download updates have been changed.
I think the new design is good and nice. BUT i dont understand why there are no longer any links to the change log.

personaly everytime i got an update in the past i click download and then while it download i read the change log to see what is fixed and what is new of a game.
It was easy to just click a link and then read.
But now that feature is gone.

I kindly like to suggest that the changelog link will return on the download page vs manualy having to find it.

From another user.

Seems the new download UI requires the developer to do patch notes in a different way, for them to show up. As the new download UI has been released, we should see them doing it more often, so patch notes should start showing up like they had been prior to the change.

Please put back the News button on the download UI
Without it we have no idea what has just been updated.

Now riddle me this, how will that work with workshop content? If mods get updated, it should show too, right?

Steam Client beta:

July 29th:

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/announcements/detail/2974049913511655206

The "View News" button is now a "Patch Notes" link that will open an overlay to the most recent relevant patch notes for the game. This will only display for games that have entered patch notes into the new event system. The patch notes link will only show up on updates, not fresh installs.

Aug 9th:

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/announcements/detail/2968421119171753776

Added "Patch notes" and "View subscribed items" to context menu on downloads page for items for which those options are relevant.
Well at least we'll get to see which devs didn't leave patch notes, I guess, lol.

Unfortunately (correct me if I'm wrong of course) no option exists to decline an update that has no patch notes.

Oh!. Nifty. That was the one complaint I had about the new set up

To the Steam moderators or whoever, can you take consideration to add the option to change the layout to the previous/original view in the settings menu? Also, I recommend to look into the comments in these discussions. Many accounts are all level zero and appear as to be fake, which in my opinion are not trust worthy.
Moderators have nothing to do with the design, that's developers. A revert won't come, Valve never does a revert when it comes to UI changes. They might change some options or such, but not a revert.

People with accounts that are level 0 are Private or Friend Only accounts. You're assumption that they're fake or not trustworthy is not correct, they're simply users like you and I.
FYI you can revert to the old Downloads page if you use this launch parameter:
-no-browser

Warning: it also cuts out the Steam Library (which nowadays also requires a browser rendering engine) and reverts Friends/Chat to an older version, among other changes. I can elaborate more if anyone is interested.

EDIT: this method no longer works for reverting the Downloads page.

Not a single a single one of my 12 updates today have featured this 'patch notes' link including longstanding devs like Tynan (Rimworld). I've had to manually navigate to each page to read the update information which is incredibly tedious and blaming devs for not implementing something that Steam used to automatically include is a poor excuse.

I'm willing to admit I'm a little biased in disliking this UI update as I spend 90% of my interactions with Steam via the download screen or small mode library, so the need to run Steam full screen just to see more than 2 items on my download list is incredibly grating before considering the cumbersome UX choices made.

The "news" section was flawed and broken for alot of games, this is a much better solution although they could have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smart about it and told devs about it months ago, and had it so they could upload the patch notes there instead and still automatically show up on the news page so when it was transitioned it would be seamless for devs and the customers alike.

But alas, why make an effort on doing anything proactive when you can be dumb instead?

Patch notes have been a thing for a while now. The fact that devs aren't utilizing is not a reflection of the update to the Downloads page.

Apparently devs have to put their patch notes in a different place now.

So much for people who kept saying that Steam gives devs all the choice.

the product owner that pushed the update simply has to use the correct announcement paths, then the new download design works as intended.

otherwise, click on the image of the game and view latest news in its library game details page.
