Steam PLUS (Like Discord Nitro)
Make a VIP feature that allows people to pay 5$ per month (like Discord Nitro) where it allows you to do certain things ordanary steam users can't do.

A Few Ideas:

Steam Plus allows you to:

Use Gifs on your steam profile picture / Avatar.

Change your Online and Ingame Colour / Color.

If Anyone has ideas based off this Idea / Suggestion feel free to comment. ☺

Animated avatars are very annoying to a lot of people and have been a hated idea on Steam for a long time.

Changing the color of your name is a horrible idea as it just opens up the ability to use for more scamming attempts. We should just keep the ones we have now and leave it.

Mr Poptart summed it up very well. I wouldn't even blend with the idea to be honest.

As if it sounds like RGB bragging and gloating.

wouldn't want those lvl 100-1000+ people bragging to everyone about it.

Seizure inducing artwork is bad enough. No need to have it every where with avatars.

This.

To elaborate further:

  • Animated avatars are a bad idea as a significant percentage of gamers still do not have fast reliable Internet speeds and connections. Some people are also on limited data plans. Forcing them to load animated avatars every time they visit the forums or look through their friend list would create problems for them.

  • Different-colored names allow for scammers to use it to trick unsuspecting users. Already we saw some confused users who asked if the golden profile names mean that the user is in positions of authority.

So I would vote no.

Unless the animated avatars are set to only display the first frame by default and users are allowed to opt in to display the full animation.

But different-colored names, just no.

Animated avatars also have the issue of users putting in ones that break Steams UGC rules and counting on most people not paying enough attention to see it and causing more work for Steam staff to check the ones that do get reported,

We used to have the option to use different fonts and colors in chats. It got abused to make things look official and talk people out of their property, so now it's been removed. As long as scammers are around, don't expect anything beyond barefaced, basic chat features.

Also, if and when Discord accounts and inventories become valuable, expect such features to disappear there.

Actually it's not. Try using the search for these topics and you might understand. I never said everyone hated them, but a lot of people hate them in those threads.

Not only that you could understand a bit more if you bothered to read those that already posted here. Not one except you likes them...

I disagree. There are no standards for such a platform and never will be. No platform will have every aspect that every users wants as they will always be at odds with each other over what features should and should not be on it, as this thread proves.

Valve is actually ahead though as they treat all users equally, regardless of money spent on the platform. So if such features were added, Valve would do so at no charge, not by charging a fee for something that should be free to begin with.

I disagree with you. The facts are in the numbers and Steam is falling behind in terms of revenue. Devs are cutting deals with other comms companies because users are moving to those platforms for a reason.

Also, don't put Valve ahead of making a paid service for increased profile customization, they have no high road to take here.
