Gamebans shouldn't be displayed to the public as VAC bans
Any developer can just gameban you from their games and it's all times unjustified.
In most platforms and games, bans are disclosed just to the person who has been banned and attached to the ban notification, there's proof of it and they're always justified.

I can see the reason of VAC bans being shown to the public, but gamebans? That doesn't make much sense and the only person affected is always the customer.

I'd like for the Steam department team to make gamebans private, since any developer can apply them (There're even cases of developers just banning people because of negative reviews). I even have one gameban from a game that I don't play anymore, so it doesn't make much sense to show it to the public, it's just annoying and people tend to confuse it as a legit VAC ban.

**here's a clue: all vac bans are in fact legit. game bans are for one of the above reasons, vac is for cheating.**

You can either take it in stride, maybe as stated above petition the developers if it's a game ban from a game with sensible people running it, or you can throw a hissy.

Guess which you've already opted for? Because I can tell right now, whoever was on the account probably pissed people off enough in a game, enough times, that reports were lodged against it. Hence: game ban.

But it's not a VAC, making any of your mumblings worthless to read. In any case, next time pay me if you're going lurk into my profile to make your fragile assumptions

At which point did I say "you have a vac ban"?

Because I was paying very close attention to the fact that you have a GAME ban visible on your profile, and that Vac is known to only ban for cheating. Game bans are known for ALSO banning accounts based on griefing and reports.

So maybe you need to brush up on your reading skills, yourself. Because I was absolutely implying that your account got a game ban based on reports for being insufferable while playing.

I don't care either way. People take this stuff way too seriously.

Neither did I until people like these started to make assumptions based on a message displayed on my profile, so it became an annoyance ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unlike the person in a game who gets reported a lot, because of their behavior?

Or like the person in a game who uses cheats?

Seriously. Cheating and griefing have consequences.

As was pointed out earlier in the thread, you have recourse to protest a Game ban by contacting the developers.

If they made a rule and you broke it, that's tough luck. Next time, don't do those things to warrant it. If you're serious about how "not legit" the ban on your profile is, like you seem to imply your account having one 'because of a negative review' (why else would you have brought that up, eh?) perhaps you ought to stop opening yourself up to the comments here, and start researching who to contact to remove your ban.

Game bans are 100% on the level - and yes, any company, valve included, can place a game ban on any account, for literally any reason. ANY. Reason. They are almost always for compellingly good reasons, such as those described above. Trying to get people to believe that a game ban isn't somehow as 'important' or 'legitimate' as a Vac ban is silly: many games don't use vac. But ALL games have the ability to ban accounts. Those bans are absolutely, totally, as important and serious as a Vac.

Well I also don't play MP games with strangers precisely because people are annoying...

If you're not having fun, stop.

I'd love to know if your ban is for Dead by Daylight, with a negative horrible review and over 600 hours in the game.

Because wow that looks absolutely 'legit' and I mean that in quotes.

Bugger off children

In other words, my point stands. Also you came to a public forum to post. Just as with your game ban, you have no control of this situation.

Still, a "game ban" could be for anything. Even swearing excessively.

Incorrect. A VAC ban can not happen from PUBG. So, either it is a Game ban or your friend lied to you.

Or their 'friend' has a vac in another game, which seems likely if they've already garnered a ban on PUBG.

And yes, OP: GAME BANS CAN BE FOR BEING ANNOYING.

People have been game banned for being in a group before so thats not always the case

Always read pinned threads. If the game in question is Dead by Daylight, it is clearly stated they don't just ban for cheating :

https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/364040166692923523/#c1319962173910691941

EDIT........................

Furthermore, this is all clearly explained as to the "why" on the relevant Steam Support page for game bans :

More recently, game bans were added to users’ Steam profile pages. This was done for two reasons. The first reason was to help banned users know why they cannot join a protected matchmaking server. Many users were confused when they received an error trying to connect to a matchmaking server and yet did not see any bans on their account. The second reason was to allow other users to see whether accounts they had suspected of cheating were, in fact, banned. It can be frustrating to play a game with a cheater, and it helps to know when such a user is removed from the matchmaking system.

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6899-IOSK-9514

All of this information is readily available to read, and even from using the "info" button easily available next to the ban notice.

This was an added feature, so suggesting they go back to them not being displayed is probably a waste of your time.
