Steam Coupons while Steam Sale is active
I am sharing with you guys the ticket i just submitted to steam support about my situation. Have you ever encountered such a nonsense problem before?

"Hello. I have a -90% steam coupon for this game, but i can't apply it because the game is currently on sale -80%. The coupon expires same time as sail is over, so as you can see i am wondering what is the point of me (spending my money) crafting badges and getting steam coupons if i can't use them to get better prices for my wishlisted games? What is the point of giving me a choice if you are NOT actually giving me a choice but to wait and buy the game at a HIGHER price. This doesn't make any sense :/ Just leaves a "the system is rigged" taste. Please provide a valid explanation and/or fix your system so it allows such purchases. I do not want a discount on a discounted game, i just want the higher discount off of the original price."

if a game is off by -80% and you add another -90% then it is free and steam does need some money from the game wich makes the other -90% not valid

Why are you complaining to Steam Support when it's the publisher that decides the pricing and sale prices. No store would agree to your argument. The sale price is the sale price.

@TinkleFairy As i said, mate, "I do not want a discount on a discounted game, i just want the higher discount off of the original price." Meaning i just want the -90% coupon to work as it usually works. In my case the coupon gives me a better price than the sale does. So a $4.99 game costs $0.49. No free stuff searched for here.

Really? Steam coupons are a steam item, whatever their inner understandings are (publisher and steam) is their business, not relevant in this case.

And it is already cllearly stated that discounts and coupons do not stack. Just wait for the store discount to end and you'll be fine.

Am i so unclear that i don't want them to STACK, i just want the coupon to apply to the ORIGINAL PRICE, and the sale price to be ignored/cancelled/removed whatever, since the coupon so conveniently EXPIRES same time as the sale does.

put the game in the cart and see if you can select the coupon.

it is the devs/pubs decision to give out coupons and how they are handled. there are coupons which you can stack on existing discounts and there are coupons that can replace existing discounts and the normal ones.

In the image attached you can see that i already tried this, i can't apply the coupon. I guess all would be ok if this particular coupon had a longer life span, all in all i am ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in price just because a sale is on. That does not seem fair to me at all. All i want is a workaround in this kind of situations, which is exactly why i think this is something steam need to take a closer look at. If you craft a lot of badges and use those coupons just like me i bet you would be able to put yourself in my place and see how this is a flaw. I am not an unreasonable guy and certainly not an ignorant one. I don't want free gifts and lower and lower and lower prices. i just see two systems NOT working correctly with each other and i don't feel like a bad guy for pointing out apparent issues. Isn't this the way to work them out?

You can't get that!! What part of that can't you understand!! Just pick up the game for the 80% and allow the 90% coupon to expire.

I didn't give money for coupons in order to pay the higher price after that. It's not just about getting the game, i can get it at full price if i wanted to. This is a principal point of view, not just ignoring the issue and paying blindly. Hope that makes it clear for you as to where i stand and yes, i understood you loud and clear. I just don't agree this is how a fair system should work. Exactly the reason why i published this discussion in the "Suggestions / Ideas" section. It does exist for a reason, the reason i am stating right now: There's an issue with coupons and sales, a system that needs MORE CLARITY from the buyer's perspective.

Good luck in trying to get Valve to agree to your terms.

Thank you, mate. It might be all in vain, but i have to try and get my opinion heard. If Valve doesn't care about their customers, well kuddos, at least i would have tried.

What is so unclear about this? Whether you want them to stack or not, THEY DO NOT STACK. Period. Whether you want them to stack or not is irrelevant. That's how it's designed. Coupons + sales = do not stack. Can you imagine how backed up Steam support would be if everyone wanted things to be individually tailored, custom made, and altered for them? Steam support would be so unbelievably backed up that they wouldn't have time to get on to the real issues if everyone demanded exceptions and overrides on such things. The difference between 80% and 90% is rather marginal, anyway.

Why shouldn't they. It's an unfotunate coincidence. But ultimately it's Steam giving you a promotional code that does not work. Most stores I know honour it and grant the higher discount they advertise. It's nothing outlandish to ask for.

Yes, in THIS case. There are a lot more expensive games which fall in the same category. And i don't want a patch fix for ME only, i point out a flaw that needs to be fixed for EVERYBODY.
