Need an in-game clock overlay for games
If anyone is familiar with Civ IV then you should be familiar with the spectacular option to display an actual clock in game so you can see just how long your 'one more turn' has gone or actually save and quit at a reasonable hour.

Steam can already inject things into games like voice chat so why not give the ability to place a small clock on the screen in whatever game you play? It should be an incredibly easy feature to make and take little additional system resources to run.

So please Valve! If you can't help us to count to 3 could you at least help us to tell time?! (Or at least provide us with an in-game clock so we can blatantly ignore it if we binge game.)

Go to the store and spend 5 bucks for an alarm clock, put it beside your monitor.

Or as Laberbacke says, alt tab.

How often do you think to check that when engrossed in a good game? :P That's why it would help to have one that you can see with just a glance even in the middle of an epic firefight. At least I know in my case that great game sometimes equals brain off and you don't realize how long I've been playing unless I see a clock on the screen with just a glance.

A clock overlay would screw with both your ability to control what's on screen and to see everything. Not going to happen.

An actual physical clock beside your monitor would be better. It would be something staring you right in the face the entire time.
You know what another easy feature is? Checking your phone every once in a while or getting a clock like others have said.

It's not Valves fault or problem you play games too much and can't be bothered to check the time from the desttop or even shift-tabbing to the Steam overlay where it has the time at the top....:rfacepalm:

In addition to using a clock or your phone to keep track of the time, maybe set an alarm to let you know to stop playing when you are finished with your current turn.

I make heavy use of the built in clock for over watch I would really enjoy this feature. This and adding frame rate counter into big picture mode.

rainmeter is a good destop customization tool. Download a clock you like, add it to rainmeter, adjust the position, make it always top most, run game in windowed borderless at the display resolution. cheers!

Thanks for being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and not being helpful at all. he asked for something.
if you don't have a answer to give don't give your stupid opinion over it.
:steamfacepalm:
I can give my opinion on a topic I wish, if you have nothing to add to the topic you should take your own advice. Please don't necro a thread just to insult someone.

All so funny how you have to comment using an alt and not your main. Epic fail :rfacepalm:

as this was a pretty niche request and Steam needs to cater to a mass and not put so much useless stuff that no one needs.

some corrections:
Steam does inject any voice chat into any games. that is a blatanly misunderstanding on how Steam, the games and the Steam overlay works. not even Valve games use the Steam client voice chat and have their own version of a voice chat implemented.

the Steam overlay already had a clock when this thread was made, it had one since the overlay existed.

so either open the Steam overlay and check the time there,
you buy or use an external clock
or if you still wanna have an always-on clock when you play video games, you are better off looking somewhere else for a solution with another overlay, like overwolf

I agreed with Overlay Clock. It's possible to use overlay clock with ReShade, and it's discret. Just a quick look to the upper right side of the screen and you can see what is the time without make any command or button pressing. Stem should itegrated a overkay clock just like fps clok and make it selectable on the config panel!
LeoRgz Feb 27, 2019 @ 10:27pm
Clock option just like fps on overlay.
Just add a new thread to enforce tthe idea to make a option where we can decido to have a little clock with or withou the fps counter on overlay with the same options of the fps like position and high contrast. A regular digital clock, just like the one we see when do shift + tab.but on the overlay just like the fps counter.
Seretti Feb 27, 2019 @ 10:28pm
There are already two threads here about it. Add to those.
