Have you not seen the problems in the last few days alone on these forums due to the recent phishing scam?
I realise that, which is why I gave my answer to that question first. I just felt it needed to be pointed out - not just for you but for other s that will read the thread :)
Make sure FF is you default browser; In FF click options, then Advanced and at the bottom of Advanced under System Defaults, make sure there is a check mark next to "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup" Once you place the check mark, if FF is not your default browser, you will get a pop up asking if you want it to be. You may have to re-boot your pc to get the pop up.
You're half right...
Steam makes a decision on how to open the link. If it's a Steam link, it will always open in the client, however, for other links it will choose the system default browser.
So yes, Steam makes the decision but it does (often) decide to use the browser you've chosen.
